questions for San Diego-ans

Hey, here is what I need help with - from the Manchester Hyatt downtown what is the best, quickest beach to layout, swim, shop, sight and people see, and the best way to get there? Public transportation would be ideal but cabbing it is OK, too. What about Pacific/Mission Beach? Also, is there any public transportation to Chula Vista on Sunday nights? Is there anywhere in Chula Vista to go out on a Sunday night. And any reccommendations for places to go out Friday night? Is it possible to buy padres tix at the park day of game if its a sat night game - not too expensive tix, mind you. Anything else ...

I am coming into SD for marathon weekend with a gazillion other TNT people - I think we want to go to the beach and out in PB Friday night, go to the baseball game Sat night, marathon Sunday, Live concert in Chula Vista Sun night and then out afterward.

Thanks.

That will get you from your hotel to the heart of Pacific Beach, which is the best community beach in San Diego (out of towners aren't allowed at Windensea)

The Pads game shouldn't be sold out, so getting in shouldn't be a problem

Friday night? PB Bar and Grill, Typhoon Saloon, Sinbad's, Fumari's, or one of the many clubs dowtown.

Cholla Vista has buses and trolleys going down there all the time, but I'm not sure if you can get from downtown to PB. I'm assuming you can though. try www.sdcommute.com to look.

I'm running late, I'll try to think of other stuff later.

We can go to the beach on Fri, I get off work at 1

Just to add on to the above post...
the trolley doesn't run into PB/Mission Beach area, the closest stop is Morena (i think!) but you may be able to call a cab from there if you are concerned about cost. Otherwise a cab from PB to downtown is probably around 25 bucks-but split between 4 people it isn't so bad. You will definitely be able to get tickets to a game, granted they are kind of pricey (around 25 bucks each) but worth it to see the new park.
As for friday night in PB, it kind of depends on your age and what scene you're into. Typhoon Saloon is fun-dancing and lots of cute boys; PB Bar and Grill isn't my fav but I've heard that the new VIP area is pretty cool; the Tavern is fun but a little smaller than the other two with dancing and a pool area; Moondoggies is a cool bar (not really for dancing), I think they have a band on friday nights. All of those are good options but I definitely recommend getting out around 10:30 or probably before to avoid lines-especially at the Tavern.
I'll pm you my e-mail address for if you have any other questions!

Just a quick note for the Padres- I'm working there this summer and as suprising as it is to me, the weekend games have been selling out. I recommend buying tickets early and online (then they'll be at will call for you). the tickets range from $5 to $55... have a great time in san diego!
