places to find history of sororities and fraternities

OK folks, I need some very major help quickly. Where can I find information on history of fraternities and sororities on campuses? For instance, UGA, UT, Indiana, U of Florida, Ole Miss? Any help is incredibly appreciated.

I can point you to one for Shippensburg and one for Dartmouth. Does that help?

Are you seeking campus SPECIFIC information or historical information about a specific group on a specific campus?

The current Phi Mu History Book is a great resource for information about Phi Mu chapters, even on individual campuses.

Do those schools have a student life section to their websites? Look around for a link to clubs and organizations, and there might be links to each individual group's site? If nothing else, just Google the group on which you want information?

It has more info on the individual fraternities & sororities rather than who did what at a particular school.

histories/Baird's

so far as I know, only Baird's manual features histories of the
various social, professional, educational, etc. greek groups.
Most larger libraries generally have a copy, there were several
editions. To try to find one source for every campus and each
group would be an impossible task...thousands upon thousands
of histories...then when once considers the defunct ones, and the
newbies...cannot imagine even trying....

If I had a Bairds, that would be great, but unfortunately, I don't, and the nearest library to me that does, is like 2 hours.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Question

shadowkat, is your reference correct, PhillY?

Bairds as Erik said only lists Chapters over various Greek Organizations, not by individuals of the Chapters.

Now, the problem is, What School are you looking into?

Once again, I am sure if you fill in a little more, there are many on here will bust a gut to help you find a link that you can get to!

Be More Specific. Please!

Can You narrow it down? A specific Soroity and school!

Many times National Organizations have them on their Sites but you have to be a member to access it!

Our public library branch has a copy of Baird's. If a university library is too far away, check with the public library. I was surprised to find it at my local branch.

I'm looking for the Baird's information on Delta Phi Epsilon...all of it Diamond Delta has offered to look it up. If I could get it online, that would also rock. Any help is appreciated, and I'm happy to pay for copying, mailing, etc.

Thanks all!

Have you contacted alumnae from the chapters that interest you? They can be a great source of information.

Deefer/Baird's

I will copy from my Baird's the history of Delta Phi Epsilon if you
will send me, e-mail, your snail mail address. Perhaps you have
it already, but just in case...no charge.
John Robson, a very erudite and nice Sig Ep, had chosen me to help him with the next edition of Baird's...he having been a long
time editor. Robson died suddenly, a great loss to Sig Ep and to
the Greek world. He also wrote widely on the Greeks plus did the
Sig Ep pledge manual.
