danielle jones is in Ecuador ready for the Miss Universe pageant where she will represent Trinidad & Tobago. This was her first email last week...I just wanted you to share it with our sisters.
Everyone give her good vibes and watch out for her on June 1st.
YITS,
All,
And when I say all I mean it - the number of people who will receive this email is baffling to me. ANYWAY - HOLA DE LA PAIS DE ECUADOR! The centre of the earth. Ok, its beautiful here and despite some, well a tumultuous send off, I got here safely last night and, along with Miss Bolivia (Gabriela - see, I even know some names

) was greeted by the entire QUITO police force, FIRE BRIGADE and the queen of the city. There were and continue to be roses everywhere - along the drive to the hotel, in the hotel, at the airport, in every room - yeah, beautiful. To quote a friend - "real red carpet business".
Today was hectic but good. I did my interview for the web and TV, shot the evenging gown photos for the net, the glamour head shot, swimsuit shot for the web and the program book photos. All the pics look pretty damn good - I guess mom and God were up there smiling down on me because we all know I am NOT a photogenic kinda chick! Righto, I also met my roomate - MISS PHILLIPINES the web favorite for to win the pageant. And, as I felt when I met ANYA (miss woodbrook) I was humbled when I met her - homegirl is truly amazing. And, we have similar tastes as the website photos will show.
When we met neither of us was sure what language the other would speak so she started in Spanish and I followed and she was there telling me she had a dictionary if there was anything she could not say in my language when I said - you have an english or a spanish dictionary and we laughed, hugged and well, had a beauty quen kinda moment >I guess. The room is a sea of bags, hair products, and shoes - she has unpacked. Those that helped me, miss anal retentive 2004 pack, will know I had no need to unpack completely. I have a night of steaming ahead.
What I have realized is, I guess I'm more ready for this than I thought - I see some girls pretty overwhelmed - I've been helping too...imagine the shock if I won miss congeniality...ok, back to reality! There are only six computers for all 86 girls so I imagine my email response time may be slow. However, please email me. Calling Trinidad is $4.80 a minute plus a 20 cent surchage. I love you people but really! That's thirty TT a minute! and the US is $3 a minute!
So email me. I will get homesick again soon! I am trying not to scope out the competitin too much but in my sonai mack gown today and swimsuit four different photographers said I had a body to die for and todo el mundo (everyone) loved the colour and fit of sonai's gown which is green - too bad <i tripped on some stairs in it!
Oh! ANd the press and everywhere - they camp out here and wait for you to cross the lobby! and a school group serenaded me and a little boy fainted when I kissed him - well, ok, he swayed!
Besitos Y abrazos por todo (hugs and kisses for everyone)!
