Emergency Landing in Nashville Due to Bomb Threat

I think every agency that exists was at BNA yesterday! Terrorism Joint Task Force, FBI, etc.

(Nashville-AP) -- An American Airlines jet flying to Boston from Dallas was diverted to Nashville after a flight attendant found a note saying there was a bomb in the cargo hold.

There was no explosion and there were no injuries.

Nashville International Airport Spokesman Ronald Roberts saysinvestigators are looking at a "suspicious package" but he didn't know where the package was found. A flight attendant found the note in one of the plane's lavatories.

The 129 passengers were taken off the plane and questioned by the Transportation Security Administration and FBI. Flight 306 left Dallas at 1:46 p.m. and landed in Nashville shortly after 3:30 p.m.

American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner says the plane was full. It has a crew of pilot, co-pilot and three flight attendants. In Nashville, the MD-80 was parked near the Tennessee National Guard airfield where Air Force One awaited President Bush's arrival after a speech and fundraiser in Nashville.

Bush departed Nashville on Air Force One at about 7:50 pm. White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan says the incident didn't affect Bush's travel plans.

Investigators say all baggage from the American Airlines flightwill be unloaded. The flight could be delayed overnight.

Authorities say the person who wrote the note will be prosecuted.

I'm certain they parked the AA jet in the 'penalty box' (an area designated on the airfield for isolating aircraft that may pose a hazard to other parked aircraft) far away from Air Force One.
