Scores of Balinese spectators clapped and burst into song after a court sentenced a former Australian diplomat to 13 years' jail for having sex with two boys.

After hearing his sentence, William Stuart Brown, 52, trembled, stamped his foot and yelled "Bastards" at the anti-child-sex campaigners and media who packed the court.

"The defendant, Brown, William Stuart, is legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a continuous obscenity against children," I Nyoman Sutama, chief judge of the Amlapura District Court, said.

I personally think he should receive more, but I don't think he'll be happy at an Indonesian jail, especially for 13 years.

Australian pedophile suicides in Bali jail

A former Australian diplomat hanged himself in a Bali jail cell a day after he was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting two boys on the Indonesian resort island, prison guards said today.

The body of William Stuart Brown, 52, was discovered in his cell in the eastern town of Karangasem this morning, said guard Ida Bagus Oka.

Brown had made a noose from material taken from his mattress, Oka said. He hanged himself from metal bars blocking access to a ventilation hole in the roof of the cell, he said.

Seems that his lawyer did not see this suicide comming. The convict was talking to his lawyers about appealing the sentence. I wonder. Oh well.

I've read somewhere that if you go to jail w/anytype of child molestation charges you'll be dead quicker than any other offense by your fellow prisonmates.

And to add.....13 years is not too much.

Trust me, 13 years in an Indonesian jail is a very long time.

DENPASAR, Bali (AFP): An Australian who hanged himself after being jailed for 13 years for child sex offenses has left a letter complaining that he is a victim of media hysteria.

Lawyers for William Stuart Brown released the letter on Thursday, a day after he hanged himself in his prison cell on Indonesia's Bali island.

I Nengah Maharsa, one of the lawyers, said Brown wrote the letter on Monday, a day before he was sentenced by a court in the eastern town of Amlapura. He said they planned to release it at a press conference Wednesday.
