Abortion Issue in England

Seems that a 14 years old had an abortion without the consent of her parents. The abortion was done in secrecy. What do you think?

You can read the story.

I understand and appreciate her mother's outrage. I also don't agree that the school/teacher should have set this up behind her mother's back. what the school should ahve done was encourage the girl to talk to her mother.

But can you imagine how terrified this girl was. I know I would have been scared to talk to my mother too if I was in that situation.

From article "I am absolutely outraged that my 14-year-old daughter ... was able to have an abortion without my knowledge," she said. "This is one of the worst things she will go through in her life and I knew nothing about it. I wasn't there to help or protect her. "
Well if she'd worked on her relationship with her daughter so that she felt comfortable coming to her with anything she wouldn't be in a position saying this would she! She needs to stop looking at the school to blame and look a little Closer to Home!

Obviously something's going on if the 14 year old is pregnant. I think the mom needs to stop blaming the school and maybe see where she went wrong. I wonder where this girl's dad is in the picture (if at all).

Exactly! She should have been reading books not sexually experimenting!

Maybe the mother realises she's failed as a parent and is looking for a scapegoat to blame!

What else would the child have done - kept the baby? 14 years old is too young to be a mother.

Or if she's gonna experiment, at least use a freakin' rubber. Maybe the school would have provided that, too.

For the life of me, I will never understand how an under-18 girl needs a parent to get her ears (or whatever) pierced, but not for an abortion.

If someone waits around or is told to wait around for a few months, a year or whatever to get something pierced, it doesn't make much difference.

But after a period of weeks, an abortion has to be performed a different way; after that, a different way still; still later, it can't be performed at all. One is a matter of fashion while the other is (literally) a matter of life & death.
