Thank God *Please Read*
Sorry if you read this somewhere else, but I wanted everyone to read this and think about it.
I was in the library actually doing some work for once this semester. I realized I was hungry so I got up and went to Krystals. I didn't feel like coming right back so I parked and started eating. I was down to my last Krystal chick when I noticed a homeless person approaching. She looked like a man in an over sized plaid hooded shirt, some shorts, and some dusty shoes. She asked for a quarter so she could get a sandwhich. I was like I dont have a quarter and she asked for a dollar. I gave her the dollar and she asked me if I could give her a sandwhich. I was halfway finished with the last sandwhich so I told her I didn't have any more. She said that she couldn't get anything to eat cuz she didn't have enough money and that she couldn't afford a drink so if she got a cup could she have some drink. I told her yeah. She came back with a dirty cup from the ground and I gave her almost all of my drink. She walked off and started drinking it so quickly, it sounded like a dog slurping. By this time I gave her about 3 more dollars. She walked to the drive thru window and placed an order. I walked up to her and gave her the rest of my onion rings. She saw my trash bag and asked if I had some more chicken. I told her no and she pointed and was like yes you do. I looked at the bag and it was half of an eaten onion ring. She asked if she could have it. I gave it to her and she took her bag with her food in it and walked off. She was going thru my trash looking for scraps. I was on the verge of tears, thinking about how I thought I was hungry, but I wasn't hungry...she was hungry. I thought about how I don't want to do my school work...some people would kill to be able to do school work. I thought about how I don't want to clean my room...how many people don't have a room to clean...
I thank God that I experienced that tonight, it made me count my blessings.

Wow, thanks for sharing. It's awesome that there are always opportunities to learn or see things from a fresh perspective. I'm glad you had that opportunity today.

This really puts life into perspective....
Did you know that if you have food to eat today and some change in your pocket that you are among the world's top 2% in wealth?

Thats a nice thing to do
Last time i was out at this club I stopped at Mcdonalds on the way home and this homeless chap was there asking for money, so I bought him a Combo.
Of course he was probably hungry again the next day.

It's necessary for us to take a moment to count our blessings, and be grateful for what we have!

I was in church last week and a guest speaker came in to talk about our meal program for homeless people (they provide breakfast and lunch programs as well as some councelling services). One of the regulars of the program had some problems, and was often uncontrollable. Luckily, one person was able to calm him down. This was someone who turned out to have known him in high school, and attended the same church in suburban Toronto. Sad how homelessness and mental illness affects all classes.

I had an almost similar incident. I was in a local restaurant eating, and I noticed this lady sitting at a table near me. She was in raggedy clothes and looked like she was waiting on something or someone. She looked over at me and asked what time it was and I told her. After I told her, I asked if she'd like to sit with me and I then proceeded to ask her if she'd eaten. She said no because she couldn't afford to buy anything and that she was just waiting for someone to bring her some feminine products. I told her wait right there because I have feminine products in my trunk and that I am going to buy her something to eat and to drink.
My only problem is that I live in a small town and the couple sitting a couple of tables away and kept staring at us. I proceeded to walk up to their table and said, "Too bad they don't have photo cameras here to buy because I'd buy ya'll one since pictures last longer than a stare. It's too bad a newcome to this town is the only one with a heart for another human being that might not be in their social class." Their mouths just dropped. The homeless lady just smiled and laughed. When I came back with her stuff, she just said, "Thanks. No one else I know would have the balls to say something like that."

I am so happy to hear that there are people out in this world that do do some good. Please keep passing the message along. And, for all of those who dont have time to help. I hope you never will need help, or if you do and you do get the help, that you remember back to all of the times you didnt help because you couldnt.
The reason why I say this is becuase I found out 5 minutes ago while grading papers that my friends mom has breast cancer again. I feel so bad. I think of all the good the woman and men and children all over the US who contributed to my pledging to the Breast Cancer Run/Walk for this past MOthers Day.
If anyone is on here who helped me.
THANK YOU!!
