On to Chapter Grand, Dottie Russell Wright.
Sisters, it is with regret that I inform you that our sister Dorothy 'Dottie' Russell Wright has entered Chapter Grand.
Born in Maryland, Dottie was a 1925 initiate of the Theta Chapter at Goucher College. She was a Hawai`i resident for many, many years.
Though she had been in failing health in recent years, I remember meeting her for the first time at IRD on the day of my Initiation. All the recent initiates were seated at her table since she was a guest of honor that day. There we were, celebrating 2 hours of being an Alpha Gam.
Dottie was celebrating 75 Years. Not too many sisters accomplish that feat. I remember hearing over and over again that she was one of the eldest living (if not the eldest) sisters we had. She shared with us her stories of being a collegian, and the close ties she kept with her Alpha Gam sisters even after moving away. While in Hawai`i, she often opened up her beautiful home for many an Alpha Gam occasion, including hawaiiagd's Senior Rededication.
She will be remembered by many as a talented pianist and artist and loving wife and mother.
Dottie is survived by her husband, former Rear Admiral E. Alvey Wright as well as her son Russell and daughter-in-law Pattye. Memorial services will be held at Lanikai Beach, noted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world...and Dottie's backyard.
