what have you been doing?

Do any of you act in the capacity as a board member, an adviser,
or some otherwise positive position with your respective groups?
You know, in this Greek Chat site we banter about, get all het up
and upset over things, that in the whole scheme, do not really amount to much.
What have you done to enhance the growth or quality of life of the Greeks we once knew?
Are you far away from your original chapter? Why don't you offer
a hand to a nearby one? Or revive one...there's a plethora of
orphaned alumni from chapters no longer on campus. We have a
lot to offer but cannot do it by fighting amongst ourselves. Do you know there are actually people out there who do not like any
of us...not just me and Tom?
What have you been doing?
Perhaps we could plan....

I helped to organize our alumni chapter (the undergrad chapter was founded in '02).

I am currently the recorder of the alumni chapter as well as the editor of our newsletter.

We are forming a new advisory board for the active chapter and I will be included in it in some capacity. I have also been an 'unofficial' advisor since graduation.

I have served Pi Beta Phi at the local, regional and international level for the past 20 years. I was a chapter advisor at Bowling Green State University, Collegiate Province President (assisted 6 chapters in Ohio / Michigan) and have been an international officer for the past 5 years. Currently I assist chapters who struggle academically as well as moniter academic performance of all Pi Beta Phi chapters.

kudos!

congrats to both of you! Chapters need but do not always appreciate alums. As board members, sometimes you have to
be the bad guy...as like in collecting bills...when they say "well,
so-and-so, he's such a great guy..." say, then, well, pass the
hat at the meeting, get us the money...we don't care where it
comes from Fraternalism ends at the ledger sheet.
Anyhow, kids, great...and playing fraternity is fun!

In the two and a half years I have been an alumna, I've served on the Executive Council as the Campus Relations Advisor and was also the Editor for the Hawaii Alumnae Chapter. I am also very active in the Hawaii Junior Circle and assist the Co-Chairs whenever they need help.

Despite all of that and "official positions", I feel that my greatest accomplishment thus far as an alumna is being able to go back to my college chapter each year at Recruitment. Whether it be banished to the kitchen for cooking/serving/dishwashing duties or take down of props ... I like being able to give back to AGD in that way, and show the collegians that sisterhood doesn't stop at graduation, and giving back to AGD like that is truly a rewarding experience.

I've served AOII in various ways over the past 20 years. As a collegiate member I held a variety of offices and committee positions. I also represented AOII on campus through my involvement with our SGA. In addition I served as Panhellenic Rush Chair and Greek Week Chair during my collegiate career. I was also elected as a member of our school's Student Activities Board, where I served as Travel Chair and coordinated my school's annual winter ski trip and spring break trip (and there weren't any GLO members on SAB in those days!)

After my collegiate experience I've served as an Alumnae chapter officer and member, collegiate chapter adviser and house corporation officer and member. Right now, I'm President of our local chapter's house corporation and a member of the AOII Properties operations and standards committee. I'm a dues paying member of AOII Always (our alumnae at-large group) and am involved with the reorganization of the local alumnae chapter in my area.

I am about 4 hours away from my collegiate chapter but stay informed with the happenings there via their chapter website and their local alumnae chapter's listserv.

The wonderful thing about alum membership is you are able to do what you can, because you want to. If you want to serve as an officer or adviser on a local level, the opportunities are there. If you want to volunteer on a regional or national/international level, the opportunities are there. If you have family and/or job commitments, that's okay too when you are an alum because you're welcomed when you can attend functions or whatever and if you miss it you don't get fined or lose points or get stuck on weekend cleanup duty. I always say that once you are an alumna, you get to have all the fun with a lot less "drama", so to our GC collegiate members out there, stay involved during your alumni years whenever you can!

Thumbs up

Good question!

Member of House Corporation, Mentoring Group, (Founder of the House Core Group Building a New House), finding Alums and getting current emails and addresses, and working on special projects for mutual communication, help founding the Local Alum Assoc.

Well, other than that, not a lot for almost 40 years.

For anyone who donates their time for Their Greek Organizations----------Hey Kuddos.

I am active in my city's alumnae chapter, and I assist the chapter at my grad school as much as I can. Of course, I help out financially with my chapter of initiation.

Hopefully, when I am no longer taking 20 credits of classes a semester, I can be a bit more active. Luckily my chapter does a lot during the summer.

I've been an alumna for three years. In that time I have:

* Joined our local Alumnae group
* Became the Fraternity Education adviser for the nearest chapter (30 mins away)
* Became the president of our Alumnae group
* Became the Advisory Board Chair for the chapter I advise as well as adding another advisory position
* Became a member of the Keepers

I am continually looking for ways to serve my fraternity and give back what she has given me.

I've spent the last four years on Phi Psi's Executive Council as an appointed officer. I served as Coordinator of Internet Technology from 2000-2002. Since 2002, I've served as the Director of Alumni Affairs Area Coordinators.

I served as an advisor to my original chapter for 5 years. I served on our Finance Committee for 6 years and am now a Province officer (going on four years now), still directly involved with my chapter of Initiation because they are in the Province that I oversee.

I also stay active in our alumnae club but do not hold an office. I go to 80% of their meetings/events though.
