2004 NFL Draft

Who's gonna watch? I'm gonna be glued to my recliner all weekend.

Ole Miss has got to love all the pub they're gettin with Eli's face being on TV every 5 seconds.

Eli, suck it up and sign with SD if you get drafted. Man, i hope the Broncos get a good running back and the Texans get some OL help.

I agree. Eli needs to play wherever he goes. The draft was not built to be a mutual selection process. Despite the fact that they've essentially sucked year after year, SD could be a decent place if a good QB played there.

I'm going to watch; I'd love if my Giants got Eli, if not him hopefully Gallery.

Does anyone think Eli will hold out like Elway (although Elway was a top Yankees prospect when he held out)?

Oh don't you worry, we know

A lot of us last fall would keep an eye on how A&M did, and also how Ole Miss did. I definately found myself rootin for the Rebs in the Cotton Bowl.

KSig,

I really think that SD is going to trade the pick. Eli could hold out, but it's not like the Elway situation. Elway was playing minor league ball for the Yankees at the time. Now, how legitimate his shot at making it to the majors was at the time is debateable, but he did have options.

I think SD is better served trading the pick, continuing development of Drew Brees, and addressing more needs.

Oh, they'd definitely be better served, but...

Their GM is in his first draft. Here he has a guy who's holding out, and I'm not sure he wants to set a precedent of giving into demands and trading.

I think this whole thing will just make the Chargers force Manning's hand and pick him; it's a hell of a situation, especially for a guy making his first draft pick as a GM.

Seriously,

i don't think they want to play hardball. Eli can hold out, spend the year working out, and re-enter the draft a year from now. It's not like he needs the money, ya know? In that situation, the chargers have just pissed a draft pick down their leg.

And i agree it's a tough situation, but if i'm the GM i'm like, ok, do i draft a kid and bring him in(or not) who doesn't want to be here, and cause animosity on the team and in the community, or do i trade it and get the most that i can and hopefully help the team and get a good person for SD in here.

If i'm in the guy's shoes, i'm like, fine kid, we don't need you, and i hope we meet the team who drafts you on the field and spank the crap out of them.

Poor Eli with all those boo's getting the number one pick. Don't blame him for not wanting to play for a team that suck and coan't protect him from getting killed every down. Sorry for all you anti SEC folks. An SEC player got the #1 pick this year. Go SEC.

It shouldn't matter of a team sucking or not. Peyton went to a team that sucked and looked what he did to that team. I'd boo him too, suck it up and play. He still might get his wish and get traded to the giants anyway though.

Well,

at least he had enough class to walk up to the podium, take the Chargers jersey and take pictures with it.

I hope for Eli's sake that the trade occurs and that he blossums for the Giants.

and i hope they don't play the Chargers soon

Enh, the boos were from other primadonna hating fans. The Chargers fans are weak, (present company excluded). There were probably as many fans at the Draft proportionally compared to the other fans in attendance as stadium attendance in the league. Im sure the 500 people that actually go out and support their team were pissed off, but whatever.

Kudos to Washington for making the RIGHT choice

I'm not sure it's being a "primadonna".

It's just being a good businessman. The Manning family used their leverage to better their situation. If you have the ability to make something like that happen, why not use it? This makes Manning instantly a more valuable asset, he's in a better situation with the Giants now. There's nothing wrong with playing the cards you're dealt.
