San Juan, anyone???
Anyone going to Leadership Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico? I think I'm going as a late b-day present to myself and wanted to meet any GC sorors who will be there. Hit me up on email if you're planning to go. I found some decent airfare via American Airlines and learned that the hotel still has rooms.

What do you mean by decent? I had thought about going, but had convinced myself that I can't afford it.

Soror Discogoddess how wonderful that you are able to even consider going to Puerto Rico. When I become "a seasoned greekchat soror" maybe I will be able to afford such trips!!! LOL Did you go to Africa last summer?

Soror,
Seasoned has NADA, NATHAN to do with being able to AFFORD to go. LOL IT'S HARD WHEN YOU'RE SINGLE AND THE FUNDS FROM MOM DON'T COME LIKE THEY USED TO!
HOWEVER, IT IS A DREAM OF MINE TO ATTEND THE VARIOUS CONFERENCES other than Boule and Regional Conferences...ONE DAY, SOROR, ONE DAY!
Soror DG, HAVE FUN IN SAN JUAN AND REPRESENT, LIKE I KNOW YOU WILL!

Sorors, I originally thought I wouldn't be able to afford it, without pricing it out. Then I found out that we had group pricing on American and Delta Airlines. American's rate for a non-stop, r/t flight from Chicago to San Juan is $518--not great, but not too bad. Then I called the hotel and found out that the group rate was $132 per night, + 22% tax (yikes on the tax). For five nights, that's about $805. BUT, split that 3-4 ways, and it's only between $202 and $269 per person. Not too bad for five nights! Now, the only fly in my ointment is that I made this decision to go on 4/2, the cutoff date for early registration, so instead of paying $150, I'll have to cough up $175, which I hate to do. BUT, the workshops actually look very promising, so I'm happy to support AKA in this endeavor. I'm hoping to get a lot out of this conference, both as a soror and as a professional.
The moral of the story is: don't just assume you can't go without invesigating it! I hope some of you will reconsider (let me know if you need planning help and/or a roommate).
Also, I do recognize what a blessing from God it is to even consider such a trip. It was not long ago AT ALL that I wouldn't have considered being financially active possible, let alone planning to attend my regional conference this year (and next), Boule next year and Leadership this year. What good planning (and a better job/more sober financial planning) can do! I finally realized (again) that AKA is an investment and sometimes a sacrifice! Of course, you know I'm glad to make such a sacrifice to go to P.R. It will be brutal, I'm sure!
Hope to see some of yall this summer!

I was in San Juan visiting some friends for spring break. Be careful of the cheap hotels a lot of them are terrible. I stayed at Embassy Guesthouse...nice rooms and near the beach...cost less than $100 a night.
Try to stay in Condado or Isle Verde if you can. These are the nice safe areas.
Enjoy it. It's beautiful there. I'm so jealous.

I will be going to PR this summer as well. This will be the first event that I attend as a soror considering that I am still a neo. Not a bad first I am excited because I have not met any sorors since I became a member and I live in a big city. So sad I can't wait to meet everyone!!!

Soror Showstopper,
This will also be my first trip as an AKA and I'm also a neo. I can't wait I'm so excited and I just can't hide it, I'm about to loose control and I think I like it. I've heard that somewhere before.

Thanks for the well wishes, Soror Conskeeted19, but after all my plans to attend, I learned I can't go due to a work conflict that can't be moved. I'm still upset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But, I know my homie LadyAKA will have a good time for me, along with the other sorors going as well.

Sorors, Puerto Rico was all that, I had a great time, I pulled this post back up because I saw Soror showstopper_1908's closed post. Okay here is the run down...
More then 1300 Sorors where in attendance. I believe the hotel had more then 900 rooms, well we took up 90% of those rooms and had Sorors in an overflow hotel.
The food at the hotel was not that great, but the service was impeccable, at least to me. The 5 pools and the beach were great, the Spa was off the hook. The prices however, were outrageous, everything was expensive and over priced. I was able to catch a great sale and get a necklace, charm, bracelet and 2 pair of earrings for under 200 bucks (yes it is real)
I took 4 or 5 rolls of pictures, they are being developed and put on disk ... I can send can some of the pictures on for those that care to see.
Okay the conference ...
I, not only attended the Leadership conference but I also had the chance to attend piece of the International regional conference. Int'l RD Soror Tootle is in my home chapter, so I met mad Sorors and had great fun. I attended all sessions and got certified, that is Sorority business and can be found out about at your regional conferences. I learned a lot!! Well I guess that is it. Soror showstopper_1908 I am not sure if I met you, I did get the chance to meet MS. LadyAKA and we shared some laughs.
Well Skee wee yall, hope to see you in 2002 at BOULE!!!!
Oh and if any SOROR on greek chat is from EOO, I must give yall a fat shout out, thier chapter was deep in PR, and they were very welcoming to me, the only 20 something year old soror from my chapter.
