Republicans rolled out the heavy artillery this week in their quest to gain full control of the Georgia General Assembly.
Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue spent part of Wednesday, the last and busiest day of the legislative session, calling some House Democrats into his office and urging them to switch to the GOP, according to several lawmakers who met with the governor.
He was polite, but legislators said Perdue was clear about the consequences of not accepting his offer. If they refused, Perdue told them he would campaign on behalf of a Republican opponent in the fall elections. Perdue gave them until Monday to make up their minds.

Ok the Governor is so unpopular right now because almost everything he promised never happened and the economy is bad right now. The big promise was bringing back the old ga flag which didn't happen so alot of the people that voted him in are pissed. Now threatening to campaign for the Republicans in these areas if Democrats don't switch isn't much of a threat. Even if republicans did well in those areas in 2002 things were not quite as bad then and Purdue want there to mess it up yet. If any democrats are dumb enough to switch on this threat the Republican party can have them. Even the rep from my small home town of Jesup said he would stay democrat. That county is like 90% republican too but he has always been elected. I think he has been there for 30 something years. I doubt Sonny can come in and make people vote him out.
