How long?
A question for all of you who didn't FV-
How long did it take before a chapter contacted you? I guess I just have ants in my pants, this waiting is hard! But also, it hasn't been very long since I gave my info to Int'l (3 weeks).
Hi to all of you, and I'll keep you posted if something happens.

If your area is anything like mine you may be waiting a while. I'm like the youngest member in the town most probably or one of the youngest and for my new online chapter I have to be affiliated with a land chapter (which isn't the reason I wanted to join a land chapter in the first place) and these people are wayyyyyy older than me so I'm guessing thats the issue or they have a different way of doing things that is approved by nationals that is very slow and I mean very slow (I probably haven't heard from some one in like 2-3 months) so I don't know. I'm trying to not be bitter about that little situation but its hard at times. Anyway hope that answers your question and Best of luck for a speedy contact!

Unfortunately, this is not the prime rush season so to speak. Most chapters meet prospectives /rushees towards the end of summer beginning of fall. Most chapters will be holding officer nominations/elections soon and the sorority yr for traditional chapters is end of Aug/Sept thru end of June (school year); career chapters meet once/month all year & traditional meets twice/month.
"Presents" if you will for SCC occur at the Pref tea which is held in Nov. All chapters introduce their new pledges/members at this afternoon event. Its been a tradition here for the last 50 yrs.
That said, you should be in good shape for the fall rush season.
Good Luck and I hope you hear something soon.

I got contacted Friday!!
I sent my application online probably 3 or 4 months ago. The chapter that contacted me says that I might not fit in with their chapter (because they are all older ladies) but that there is a "younger" chapter that they will introduce me to! I've been invited to a meeting on Monday so I'll be taking an extended lunch to attend! Wish me luck!!

Yaay SarahKT!
Wow! How exciting! Have fun and bring us back a report!
Well, all of you seem to be saying that it took a few months before you were contacted. Darn. Not the answer I wanted to hear. Oh well, I guess I gotta be patient. Thank you all for being so sweet and helping me and other newbies. I hope someday soon I can call you all sisters!!

I did FV, so I don't meet the requirements in your post . However, you might be interested to know that I submitted my survey to Int'l in May, and I was contacted by a chapter in July. By then I had already made some contacts of my own about a Friendly Venture, and I didn't want to let those people down. So I told the woman on the phone about my FV plans. She was really supportive and nice. I'm happy to say that I got to meet her at the area 2003 Founders Day dinner.

I was contacted again!
I heard from the other chapter last week! But for some reason both chapters I have talked to seem to think I won't fit in because I'm "young", I'm 26. I'm going to a meeting next week and will hopefully meet all the wonderful ladies there. Wish me luck!

I was contacted again!
I heard from the other chapter last week! But for some reason both chapters I have talked to seem to think I won't fit in because I'm "young", I'm 26. The second woman told me about a third chapter in this area but there are only 3 or 4 members and that they aren't very active at all. However, I'm going to a meeting next week with the second chapter (because they meet on my off day from work later in the evening) and will hopefully meet all the wonderful ladies there. Wish me luck!
PS I wasn't able to make it to the last meeting due to an overload of work on that Monday.

Hello Ladies,
I'm soo glad I found this page. I recently contacted Internationals because I was so interested in the org. I didn't know it was gonna take so long to be contacted, because I was contacted right away about my interest. But now my mind is at ease, and I can relax and just wait, however I will be on the lookout for anything

It was about a month and a half before I heard anything. I was excited to hear back, but unfortunately I couldn't participate due to my job.. Perhaps if my schedule ever changes, I'll try again?

Don't get discouraged, depending on where you live, there might be more than one chapter in your area. Or if you move, there might be more chapters that meet at other times. And there's always the Friendly Venture approach, but I know that takes A LOT of time and dedication. I wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors, and hope that even if Beta doesn't work out for you right now, hopefully sometime soon (loosely stated, soon for me can be up to a few years...I've always been known as the slow one!) there will be.
