Pootey Tang
How in the world did Chris Rock actually make an entire movie off of that stupid Pootey Tang character. I can imagine that the entire script is of his "made-up" words.
I've been seeing the commercials and trailers and have come to the conclusion that I will NOT pay to see it in the theater, will not rent or buy it on DVD, and most likely will not even watch it if it's free.
Now, it was funny for a quick second when he had his little show on HBO and he'd bring him out for a quick 2 minute spot. But 2 hours. I think not. Personally, I think that this is Chris Rock's worst yet - and I do like his other stuff.
What was up with him calling the corn stalk "daddy"?
Is anybody out there actually planning on seeing it?

LOL I don't know how this is a 2hr movie either. I'll take my younger cousins to see it (because they are begging me...young minds) and I'll use my free movie coupons for this one.
Also....did you see Pootey swinging his braid/pony tail hitting those rocks or whatever they were back and forth???

I saw a preview for this this weekend, and thought, "Why/how did they manage to make that skit into a full blown movie?". I wouldn't pay a red cent to see someone who speaks inaudible English for 1 hour or more.

By the way, I was watching 106 & Park the other day and 702 was on there because they're singing the title track on the soundtrack. Anyway, they pulled a Destiny's Child and replaced a group member. Kameelah (the darkest one, really cute, always sang lead) is gone, leaving the group with 2 sisters and some new chick. They don't sound all that hot.. well, except for the newest one, ironically enough. I said all that to say this. One of the members said they were proud to have created a new dance - it's called Pootie-tangin. Hot mess.

well, you know, they have been swapping members since the beginning. That girl, who left WAS NOT an original member. Originally, there were 4 members. They were in this video for some boys back in the day, and 702 was featured. This was LONG b4 the jam....Stylo! FYI

The group was Subway and the song said something like, 'the little games we play'.

Funny how "family members" stay while others drift in and out... so Kameelah makes the 3rd person to have left? Off topic (as if I'm not off-topic enough as it is), is the song with Subway any good?

I thought about using my free passes (I have like ten of them...hookups ) to go see the movie... But I have a whacked-up-off-of-the-wall sense of humor, I might actually enjoy it.

I may be digging too deep into this, but I already dislike the movie just from seeing the previews. It just seems like modern day black exploitation.
Just my humble opinion

The first person who left was the twin sister of one of the present members. BUT she subbed for her when the girl was out b/c she had a baby.
I think that song is TERRIBLE (any song that says "I like the way you're tangin pootie" offends every ounce of my english major soul)and the one with all the hair around her face looks like some sort of alien. They pulled that ponytail waaaaay too tight y'all! But whoever said the newest girl sounded best was right. She does sound good, despite the song, and the rest of them
P.S. the pootie tang dance is teeeeerrible!

You're right there were orginally 4 members all sisters! The twins and the 2 olders sisters.... they sang with the group called Subway...."Games We Play" was the song
......"girl I want you to stay.. so we can play this little game we play... you go hide ....and I will seek... let me be the only one to make you weak".....
I actually liked the song. As for Pootey-tangin'.... Hated It!!!

I finally saw this today with two friends one of them hated it and the other, well she had a few chuckles, but I was crackin' up! This was a stuuuuuuuuuuupiiiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddd movie! I'm so mad (not literally) at Chris Rock for doing this movie and worst off NOT playing a lead role! The people that played in the movie could not act...but Biggie Shortie had me rollin

Okay y'all,
I remember seeing the previews for Pootey Tang and asking myself, why in the world would someone pay to see ths movie?
Well, last Sunday, some friends and I went to the movies to see Dr. Doolittle 2 (not my choice), but there was only one seat left when we got up to the window to purchase our tickets. So, after a little contemplation, we settled on seeing Pootey Tang since we didn't want to go all the way back home and it was the only movie that started within the next hour.
This movie had us fallin' out!! It was so stupid and random that you just had to laugh! I doubt it's for everyone though. Some people just can't get down with certain types of humor.
