Question Points Systems

Who uses membership points systems? How do they work, what do they rate? (be as specific as possible)

Also if you use the same for your new members how does that work?

Do you think it's a good way to keep members up to par?

What Kind of Incentives or Penelties do you use?

Here is how we have it set up:

The purpose of the point system is to verify and encourage active participation in the day-to-day workings of our fraternity. By assigning points for various contributions made to the chapter, we can insure that both recognition for exceptional work and notation of unsatisfactory participation takes place. Points will be awarded for two separate types of contributions to the chapter.

A. Basic Points
These points will cover all normally scheduled activities, which are mandatory for all members. Points will be awarded in full for participation, no points will be awarded for those with valid excuses, and no points will be added for those who are unexcused.

Regular Meetings: 2 pts (1 pt awarded for tardiness)
Ritual Meetings: 5 pts
Initiation: 5 pts
Induction: 5 pts
Early Dues Payment: 5pts
Rush Events: 5 pts
Social Events 5 pts
Booths 2 pts/hour
Greek Mixers 3 pts
Retreat 5 pts
House Clean-up: 5 pts
House Fix-up: 10 pts
Study Nights:
2 per week: 5 pts
4 per week: 10 pts
Philanthropy: 3 pts (for every 1 hour)

B. Bonus Points
These points will be awarded for non-mandatory contributions made to the chapter.

Officer status: 5 to 15 pts
Committee head: 1 to 5 pts
Road Trips: 3 pts
GPA above 3.0: 10 pts (semester before)
Leadership Conference: 10 pts (spring only)
Conclave: 12 pts
Fundraiser: 2 pts
Big Brother: 10 pts
Reports:
Officer : 0-15 pts
Committee: 0-10 pts
Meet a TEKE: 3 pts

C. Awards for points will be given at the end of each semester and the Frater who gathers the highest number of points in one semester shall be named, “Most Active Active”. In the event of a tie, the Hypophetes shall decide.
D. Sample Scale (The Hypophetes can change this scale pending majority approval from chapter)

0-69 pts: Unsatisfactory
70-89 pts: Commendation
90-110 pts: Order of the Eagle
111-? Pts: Order of the Apollo

Hope that answers your questions, I happen to be leading my chapter in points as of now too
