Pin on eBay!

Hey, ladies. I was just cruising on eBay and I saw this pin. There are a few others on there (which made me really sad) but this one took my breath away! I've never seen a Chi Omega badge with diamonds.

I pray a sister is able to rescue it.

Well, diamond badges are $415, so not many people have them!

BUT, it seems this buyer might be a Chi O as she has purchased multiple badges. She got a great deal on this one. The selling price was about $158!

Though it might not be too difficult to take it to a jeweler and have diamonds put into it. I've thought about doing that with mine, but haven't priced it out yet. I doubt it'd cost that much more considering the most expensive part is the cast and mold of the actual badge.

I hope the winner was a Chi-O

Hey Amy, question about that

I have the gold/pearl badge as we weren't aware of the silver option when I was in college. I would have gotten the silver if I'd known b/c I am a white gold/silver (someday hopefully some platinum on my left hand!) wearer. Could I get the silver and have a jewler set it with diamonds? Or would it look kind of crummy in the silver?

Your professional opinion, please!

I never realized how much Chi O stuff is on ebay. Possibly the worst is this t-shirt from the TCU chapter. Aren't there rules against t-shirts with alcohol insignia?

Wink Thanks for your concern...

This T-shirt was obviously designed by a Kappa.

at my chapter all girls initiated with their pledge class get pearl badges, but the girls who dont (called diamond pledges) get the diamond badges.

I really think its neat that we all have the same pins.

I think that getting the silver and then putting diamonds in it would probably not be a good idea. Not to sound like a goody goody but badges are really only supposed to be made by Burr, Patterson and Auld and since National has not asked them to do a silver with diamonds it wouldn't really be 'official'. Also, I've never seen diamond set in silver. But if it was platinum with diamonds that would be pretty neat.

I'm really confused too about this because our diamond pledges are the ones who didn't make grades their first semester.

Kathy -

I wish my badge was white gold also because I wear almost all white gold too. The only draw back is that your local jeweler would have to do a process called rhodium plating. If I'm correct, they'd have to remove all the pearls first, do an acid bath to remove some of the yellow gold, then rhodium plate it, then reset the pearls and re-antique it (the black stuff). That'd be pretty expensive!!!!

And Kelly is semi-right. It's not "official" looking in white gold.

Diamond pledges are pledges who cannot be initiated due to grades. Therefore, why would they be given diamond badges after initiation? One of the neatest things about our badge is that it's almost always seen in pearl (with the exception of the one on Ebay recently and our President's badge). I liked that because then everyone had the same look, and sisters didn't have to feel jipped because they couldn't afford a certain stone over another stone.

I found this info in the trivia thread....

A did you know...

"Did you know it is against the rules to do anything to your badge. I had my grandmother's badge made into a ring and got in a bit of trouble with our NC. They did not take it away or anything like that but I did learn a lesson "

"Officially" the Governing Council stated several years ago that the badge can be worn by alumnae as a ring or pendant (as sold by the official jeweler Burr, Patterson & Auld) or as a collar pin.

I was going to say...don't they sell this ring that you can attatch your pin to?

I don't think you could get in trouble for replacing your pearls with diamonds, however there is probably a contract with the vendor, and they'd prefer that you had a "new" one made or sent in to them to have the work done.

I think that Chi Omega should step into the future and offer a white gold, yellow gold, two-toned or platinum badge.

I really want to get one of those rings for my badge but mine is gold so I've got to save up for a little while. Does anybody have one? If so, do you like it? Does the badge stay well on the ring?
