Cool Cal State Stanislaus

OK OK, now that i finally have a new computer and everything is working well.....I'm BACK!!

So I've been accepted at Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock, CA. I have a full-time job and a part-time job. I plan on attending school on tue/thu and working mon/wed/fri. Am I crazy for thinking that I can work Greek Life into my schedule??? Please be honest with me. I'll start taking classes in the fall so I have some time to try and figure this out.

Your comments and suggests are welcome.

Thanks,
George

It Depends

I think it all depends on what the chapter you are trying to join is going to expect out of you and the other members. You might want to wait it out for a semester and see how your planned schedule works out first.

If you can, I would wait a semester to go greek. Take a semester to get used to your school and work schedules and then you can decide if you have time for greek life.

Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck with your future.

agreed. you don't have to join a fraternity your very first semester at school. take time to get used to the scheduling, your classes, your major, and work schedule. maybe take this semester to find a different job that pays you more so you don't have to work two. i know greek life is a commitment and can take a lot of your time if you don't budget for it.

Thanks for the comments so far, but I don't really want to wait a semester. I'll be enrolling as a Junior. My full-time job is working for my family farm as Director of Sales and Marketing. I only work the part-time job to keep me busy and out of the house at night (6pm - 9:30pm). Money isn't a problem for me or my family. As long as I can put in 30-40 hours a week with the farm, it's all good.

I worked a full and part time job, carried a full load and was VP (2nd officer down the totem pole) of my chapter when we were assembling a petition for our charter (very busy stuff).

It was a bit of a strain on me. However, I enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend it.

Your part time job or full time job will probably not yield anything close to what you could gain from being in a fraternity: life long membership to something that matters, bonds that will last for the rest of your life, not to mention a greatly improved college experience.

If you don't do it, you'll probably regret it.
