Question Hmm... How do I phrase this...

Now, I don't ask this to sound mean or anything, I am just curious.

I have noticed that several of our Beta sisters have become/were already members of NPC orgs. (Congrats to all who have been AI'd!). In their signatures, they have their Beta letters, and also their NPC letters. But it seems to me that these sisters tend to make their Beta letters smaller than their NPC letters. Why is this? To me (and I am saying this as only my own opinion) it seems that doing that shows that Beta is less significant than your NPC org. I am a member of both Beta and Alpha Phi Omega, and the letters for both orgs are the same size in my signature; I value my membership in both groups equally (even though I have become a member of Beta more recently and have not been active with APO for several years now). Could sisters in both Beta and an NPC give me their opinion/explaination for this? I am not writing this to put anyone down or to cause any problems or to make anyone angry. I am just curious.

Thanks to my sisters.

Beta hugs,
Nicole

Edited to add:

I noticed that several people have looked at this thread, but nobody has responded. I TRUELY HONESTLY did not write this message to insult anyone or single anyone out or to p*ss anyone off. I am just nosey by nature ; I like to know what makes people tick. If you want to reply to my post, but not publically, please PM me. If ANYONE finds this thread offensive in nature, I will delete it immediately, just PM me. I REALLY hope that I have not ticked anyone off, that's not what I intended to do here. If I have made anyone mad, I do sincerely apologize.

Your sister,
Nicole

Nicole,

I think you phrased that very well and I hope that it does not offend anyone either. I too have been a little curious about that in the past. I have not been a member of an NPC sorority even though, my Beta chapter was required to follow NPC rules on campus in order to be recognized by our small school. I definitely think it's awesome from what I here of the many things that being a part of both organizations brings to Beta Sigma Phi and the members!!

Hopefully we'll both get to hear "what makes people tick!"

Krista

My answer...

Hi there! I am not offended by the thread and I am one of the sisters that you are asking about too.

It's all about perception I would venture to say...

Currently, I feel it very important to pay homage to Alpha Gamma Delta, as it is the Centennial celebration this year of our founding--thus the bigger letters and quote from the Alpha Gamma Delta Purpose.

I think that it is also fair to say that some of us that came to Beta after college maybe haven't given full consideration to the sisters that joined Beta and had a more "traditional" sorority experience with Beta because of Beta's existance on their respective campus.

For me, it is not that one is more important than the other...I just happen to have different experiences with each one and came into contact with each affiliation at different phases in my life.

However, I don't think that I would appreciate my Beta experience as much as I do if I didn't have an Alpha Gam affiliation first, as my membership in AGD has allowed me to be a better sister, member and leader for Beta.

I am thy sister...
