St. Patrick's Day

Do people have plans for Wednesday? When I was an undergrad, the cafeteria would serve "Irish" food for dinner as well as green cookies (shaped in a shamrock) and other green "food items". It was "decent" for a cafeteria.

There's a new Celtic pub real close to our house. Think I'll drop in for a pint. Or a quart. A gallon? Just kidding, but I can walk home from there.

When I was an undergrad, we were on Semesters and all of the bit schools around us (Ohio State, Michigan and others had their spring breaks over St. Pats. We didn't, so a lot of people (like thousands) would stop in Athens on their way to Florida or other destinations.

Green beer and riots. That was St. Pats at Ohio University.

I still contend that's why the university changed to quarters. Now the huge party is Halloween, and it's legend in Athens.

I'm Irish, so I don't really get into the whole St. Patrick's Day thing, but we will probably go to Kelly's Tavern for dinner. Usually in Fairfax we'd go to Ned Devine's.

The Irish have that kinda fun EVERY day, Mr. Blaine O'lee. You should know that. We don't need an excuse to get drunk. We ARE one

I will be spending St. Patrick's Day with over 2000 Irish men just like last year. Maybe I will see that Academy Award winning actor again.

If the weather clears up, I might march in the parade with City Councilman Peter Vallone, Jr.

I LOVE that commerical!!!

I will be spending the day in the wonderful City of New York.

I'm turing a sad event, pre-pre op testing at the Hosptial for Special Surgery, into a happy event- drinking my face off!!

My friend is comming along for the ride, and we plan to hit every bar on the way from the hospital, to the subway, to the path, to nj, etc etc etc

maybe we'll catch the parade...who know?

most every cantina in town becomes a pub today and green chile enchiladas are symbolic along with the traditional irish food. a couple of radio stations will be doing remotes all day long from a couple of the "cantinas."
holds true today everyone is irish.

I have to teach today (one hour snow delay...but I can't get back to sleep). I will by wearing my obligatory green and since I am Irish and redheaded, I am guaranteed to look leprechaun-ish because of it! DH and I will go to have corned beef and cabbage tonight at a restaurant nearby.

Tonight will be a very interesting St. Patrick's Day..... I'm going out to Bennigan's to start with (BEER TENT!!!) a couple of my sisters AND this guy I started seeing recently. I am pretty sure there will be drama. All my sisters know I am dating him (some are ok with it, some are not) but the catch is that he happens to be the ex-boyfriend of one of my other good friends. She doesn't know because we've kind of kept it on the dl but we just couldn't deny our attraction to each other and we really enjoy each other's company. I've never been able to have such an intellectual and stimulating conversation with a guy before like I can with him..... Anyway, I'm sure we'll run into her and since I was absolutely forbidden by her to even talk to him if I see him in the hallway at school (she found out a few weeks ago that he asked me to a movie), her reaction to us being out together will be very interesting to say the least.
