Lightbulb New Squirrel needs advice!

Hello Sisters!
I recently pledged this fall at a great college with an outstanding AGD chapter. I felt like this was the place for me and I knew it the first night of recruitment. My first semester as a new girl was awesome, and I had a great time and even became a fraternity's pledge class sweetheart. I never really became close with any of the girls in my pledge class because it seemed like they had already made their own cliques. Lately I have regretted even joining a sorority because I feel like I am not getting what I expected out of it. I feel as though I don't really have any close friends in my sorority because the girls have already made their friends. I have tried to be very active in all the activities in order to get closer to some other girls. Does it get better when new girls next year come and I am an active or am I doing something wrong? I am so proud to be an Alpha Gam, but I'm just not getting anything out of it. I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you!

Hey, I PM you!

Just remember that bonds form daily, don't stress about not having a "really" close bond today, because you may have one start to form tomorrow.

Also bonds between sisters aren't regulated to age or class or even chapter... look at the women on this site.... some have met, some will meet this summer at convention, and some may never meet, but remember what initiation tells us and you will be fine.

Welcome to GC! Arin hit it right on the head. Try not to be discouraged, because each day is a fresh opportunity to bond with your sisters. Just keep doing what you're doing and eventually those friendships will come--you can't force the issue.

Also remember that Alpha Gam is for a lifetime. Although you can't see it now, there are well over 130,000 of us out there! Some of my dearest sisters (in fact, MOST of them) aren't from my chapter. I'm flying to Convention with a Delta Beta. I'm rooming with a Gamma Tau, an Alpha Kappa, and a Kappa Alpha. I frequently chat with sisters from Mu and Theta Sigma. This is just the tip of the iceberg...I haven't even started talking about the girls in my Junior Circle!

Things will get much better. I promise! And just remember that you always have us to talk to!
