A letter measuring about 10 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches, with a letterhead that says SEARLE RANDOLPH NELMS, SIGMA PHI (actually it looks like it says "Pri") EPSILON, WAKE FOREST COLLEGE and is dated simply "Tuesday" but I got it from a house with other objects from the 30s and 40s so this letter probably dates from it as well. I quote liberally from it:

DEAR HOWIE: I GOT YOUR LETTER...SORRY I HAVEN'T WRITTEN BUT I'VE BEEN KEPT SO BUSY STUDYING, DRINKING, SCREWING AND PLAYING CARDS THAT I DON'T HAVE MUCH SPARE TIME AFTER FULFILLING SUCH DUTIES AS THESE. I'VE JOINED SIGMA PHI EPSILON FRATERNITY. THERE'S A DAMN GOOD BUNCH OF BOYS HERE AND THEY BRING A WHORE AROUND TO THE HOUSE JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEKEND. I JUST FINISHED TAKING HELL WEEK AND IT WAS REALLY HELL TOO IN SOME RESPECTS. SOMETHING HAPPENED HERE LAST WEEK THAT I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE ENJOYED. THERE WAS A BIG WRECK RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. SOME GUY GOT DRUNK AND SMASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE AT ABOUT NINETY MILES PER HOUR. HE WAS SPLATTERED ALL OVER THE STREET. HIS FACE WAS SMASHED RIGHT THROUGH THE BACK OF HIS SKULL. I WENT DOWN TO THE MORGUE THE NEXT DAY TO SEE HIM. I THOUGHT I SHOULD SINCE I'M A PRE-MEDICAL STUDENT. I'M SURPRISED THEY LET YOU COME TO ANOTHER PARTY AFTER WHAT YOU DID AT THE LAST ONE. DID YOU SQUARE YOURSELF WITH ALL THOSE GIRLS AND PROFESSORS? LOVE RANDY.
