Question Holiday Heroism?

I don't know how I do it but when a person is hurt, I just go into automatic mode and quickly try to get a person into a better situation...

Today, my Father and I were waiting to be seated for lunch in this relatively new restaurant in a beautiful park setting. I was watching a rather young couple lift up their baby stroller up a small flight of stairs (don't ask, 'cuz they know their paying for it with guilt) when their small infant, not much older than 3-4 months, slid right out of the stroller and hit her head on a stair!!!

Then I saw the father run and clutch his infant when I noticed there was blood flowing down his child's face!! By this time, the mother was freaking out...

I just took one look at the baby and grabbed some cloth napkins to place on the baby's head so that the blood would clot on the wound. That's all I could think of. Then, someone brought a wet napkin wrapped in ice to further close the small gash. The restaurant folks seemed clueless and there didn't seem like any medical personnel were dining there.

What I did could be misconstrued as illegal since I am not a licensed physician. However, I have a Ph.D. in biology. So, I just couldn't sit there watching this baby bleed when I have had some knowlege of how to solve the accident!!!

My question to you all is: What are your stories of acts of heroisms? Have any of you done acts where you went into auto-pilot to solve human difficulties or disasters???
