A question for EVERYONE....
What if you had the opportunity to be a member of ANOTHER race for a day, what race would you choose and why?

Hmmmm I'd probably be a Mongoloid (original classification for the Asian race).
I'd select them so that I could gain some insight as to how they excelled all over the world economy in the face of adversity. It would be strategic...I'd use some of those same strategies and apply them to how African-Americans can try to excel as well develop a different management strategy in my career.

Seriously I do not want to experience another race so I think I am going to say I would like to be BLACK but born and raised in Africa. "PEOPLE" say that being African American and African are very different... I know we had this discussion and I think this is what I would like the opportunity to experience.

I would be Latina. I speak spanish, so the language wouldn't be a problem. And also, latinos have rhythm, much like many of us do. This is important because I really like to dance. I also like my complexion a lot, an if I were latina, I could remain Black. Like the people in the Dominican Republic.

I would have to agree with several ladies on this, being a Black Woman has many traits of other races. I wouldn't want to be anything else but what I am today. I love any and everything about my heritage, I couldn't even fix my mouth to say I would like to be..... I am thankful of how God brought me into this world.

Asian....because they have strong family structures and communities. They handle their local family lives and branch out into the rest of the economy to be a powerful force. Also their level of intelligence is amazing, not to sa that we as BLACK people cannot also achieve that level.
Not to menion I love Eastern Philosophy as well as martial arts. :-)

Hey ladies, I hope you don't mind me dropping in, I just found this really interesting. But, I'm going to over simplify for a moment--the part I quoted above from Wonderful1908 -- I see David Spade movies, and as a white woman, I think--this must only be funny to Men, or, specifically Boys. So I think, I wouldn't choose another race--because I couldn't --African Americans and Asians--each has something inherent in its history and traditions that I admire and respect and wonder how it would feel to be a part of it for even a day-- INSTEAD, I'm gonna say I'd want to be a man for a day--cause I've just gotta know what goes on in their heads!

Definitely Dominican Republic. I often mistake them for black until I hear them speak. Or I would be Puerto Rican.

I wouldn't mind being ITALIAN or SICILIAN for a few weeks.
They would call me Bobbiano Earlisimo (The Don). I would wear nothing but slacks, dress shoes, Wife Beater (No offense ladies) undershirt, short sleeve button up shirt, a pinky ring, and a greasy hair style.
Where ever I go, people would say, "Yo Bobby, Howzit goin? What's with the word nupe?"
I would then answer, "Get the f___outa here! What are you tryin to get me pinched here? You wearin a freakin wire or something? You bustin my ba!!$ for cryin out loud!"

I'd like to try being a full blooded Native American for a little while. Their culture, like ours, is deep and rich and filled with hardships. I think I could relate to their community a lot.

Without a doubt I'll choose to be "white" for a day. I would love to see how a white woman truly lives. What I see now is SAHM(stay at home moms)who get to mall walk all day. Husbands & boyfriends treating them like queens, able to walk in a car dealership and get a car with 1.9% financing no matter what kind of credit they have. Men of all races attracted to them, and they taking full advantage of that(don't blame them), think the world revolves around them, oh yes for a day I want to see what it feels like in there world.
Am I hatin' maybe, but at least I'm honest.

ROFLMAO!! Only you Bobby Earl or should I say Babbiano Earlisimo. You captured the imagery in my mind so well that I choked on my candy reading this.
I have to think about what race I would be.

***Okay I am going to attempt to relay this message the way I am thinking it***
I can't even lie I was talking about this the other day. I would NEVER want to be anything other than the beautiful Black woman that I am but......I would like to see what its like to be white just for one day. This all started the other day when I was watching a David Spade movie and I totally couldn't relate!!! I mean I never limit myself to just one avenue of entertainment, but I caught myself making the comment "this is probably funny as hell to white people" (iggnorant comment I am sure)and then I thought I mean we are DIFFERENT there are certain things we share as Black people. I am sure we have all been in a situation and caught that eye contact from a sister or brother that only happened because you were both Black and totally related and that eye contact said it all. If we have moments like that then other races must have to have them too. It would be so interesting being able to just see how it would be. I wouldn't mind seeing how any other race would be as long as at the end of the day I am my pretty black face again.

I would have to agree w/ Lady AKA. Being an African American woman who has many traits of different races, e.g. White, Native American and Hispanic, I would lkie to know what it would feel like to be 110% African. Would I feel any different about myself? I have a lot of confidence! Would I still have some of the other charateristics of my personality, or is my whole being based on the outward beauty that I have always been told I have by many people. Would I still be successful, or have I just been given special treatment because of my looks? Very Interesting question to ponder. Thanks, AKA2D'91.
