Question Kohl's

For some reason im thinking i already asked this question, but i searched and found nothing. Anyway, there are building a Kohl's department store near my house. Before now, i had never heard of it. I hear it is based in Dallas?? I just wanted to know if there is a Kohl's near anyone else's house. What kind of dept. store is it? Like a foley's, dillards, and does it have clinique?? It would be so awesome driving the whole 4 minutes there and getting my make-up instead of the 25-30 min. drive to the mall!

kohl's doesn't sell makeup.

and they are way overpriced. but a very pretty store and can have good sales.

i don't know how to describe it becaue i've never heard of dillards or foleys! they don't have them in ny.

the clothes aren't really trendy. no big name brands. at least not that i'm familiar with. if i want to buy a dress i go to the juniors(!!) because the women's department is kinda old fogey. but the juniors department is kinda nice and if i can fit in it, anyone can!

they have electronics, clothes, jewelry, kids books, seasonal items (christmas, bahing suits), etc...

hope this helps! pretty nice store, but don't expect to get all your shopping done there like you can do at macy's or hecht's (which i wish would come to ny!)

Bucutie, Cash78mere is right on. We have a Kohls here in town and its ok. Its got some great sales. I'd say its about the same as Belk(an east coast chain department store) or a little better than JC Penny. Most of the better department stores like Macys or Nordstroms are up in northern virginia.

There's a Kohl's near my apartment....about 5 minutes away. I've only been in there once. They were having an awesome sale. I got gloves for 50% off. Didn't see any clothes that I liked though. I don't remember if it had a make-up counter though

They've just opened a bunch of Kohl's in Colorado. We were familiar with them from when we lived in Baltimore many years ago.

I guess I think they're better than discount stores (K-Mart, etc.), but not on par with the better department stores.

We have lots of Kohls stores here - not really my bag - it reminds me of a more upscale Goody's (if you all have those). Ive only been there once, because their commerical and theme song irritate me so much lol - I have issues

Kohl's is based out of Wisconsin. They are a lower-end department store - they sell both name brands and house brands. Their sales are very good, but their every-day prices can be comparable to another department store selling the same items.

Think (slightly) upscale Marshalls or TJ Maxx, and you have Kohls.
They also have small kitchen appliances, etc., bedding, towels and other household decorative items.

I used to write about Goody's when I worked for the Knoxville News-Sentinel in the early 90s. The stores weren't all that, I never shopped there. We don't have Kohls in California yet, to my knowledge.

Senator Herb Kohl owns Kohls Dept. store....and he owns the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team, and he owns Kohls Grocery....

In a nut shell...Herb Kohl owns a whole lotta stuff in Wisconsin.

I don't care what people say about 'Kohls'.....it is a great place to get great deals on great clothes.

If you are looking for Maceys, then you have found the wrong place, but give Kohls a chance....it is alright.

Herb Kohl is the shiznit, and Kohls was founded in Wisconsin.

We have Kohl's here in suburban Baltimore. It reminds me of Uptons which I shopped at when I lived in Virginia Beach.

It is a bit overpriced though, if you go in expecting a Wal-Mart/Target kind of place.

Kohl's is between Target and whatever your local Federated and/or May Company department store is (that would be Foley's in your case, bucutie). They sell Levi's and other similar brands, for less than you would pay at the bigger department stores. They have cologne but not cosmetics. (btw cash78mere, Hechts = Filene's or Kaufmann's, depending where in NY you are. It's all May Company.)

OMG Tracy, I have actually been to Upton's when my best friend lived in Columbia. I was bummed to find it gone on a visit back there. While we're on department stores, this is a shot in the dark: has anyone from Virginia ever heard of a place called Montaldo's?

Thanks 33girl!

It's kinda funny though because I have never heard of Kaufmans either!! I have heard of Filene's Basement, but don't know where one it. I think I've just seen the commercials!

At the Kohl's near me, the name brands (Levi's, etc) aren't any cheaper than in the big dept stores.
