2003-2004 NBA Thread
Let's do this.
One NBA thread, open for discussion on all topics, including trades. This way we can keep all our thoughts together.
About the Playoffs, man, the Midwest is freaking tough. If the season ended today, the only team in the midwest that woudln't get in is the last place Jazz, and they're still ahead of the 3rd place team in the Pacific.
Spurs have a HUGE game against the Tpups on sunday in Minn. They need it to prove that they can beat the big boys. Their win over Sactown a couple of weeks ago was their first of the season vs. the consensus title contenders. The addition of Latrell and Cassell may prove to be just what Garnett needed.
This could be the year the East breaks through and steals a championship from the West. The Pacers look good and the idea of the Pistons' Braveheart front court scares me.

Cool Idea, Kitso
The Midwest is sick as it is. I know all the teams from that division will make the Playoffs. The Kings will Win The Pacific Division Unless the Lakers can get their act together ( I think Gary Payton doing a Mike Tyson on Speedy Claxton is Hilarious) As for the East, It's still wide open. Detroit, Indiana, and New Jersey will have the three top spots on Lockdown. As I have mention in the Wallace Trade Thread, the Showdown between Detroit and Indy should be fun. And What's so cool about the Eastern Conference Playoff race is that my Cavs are only 3 1/2 games out of the Eight Spot.
But Next Week, Two Big Games will be on TNT:
Lakers vs. Kings
Mavs vs. Spurs
It's gonna a NBA Blockbuster night.

BUMPed to honor my boys who won a BIG game in Minnesota.
Evens the series with the Tpups and makes the last 2 games between SA and Minnesota have soo much more meaning.
Let's keep it going, Htown and Yao tomorrow and a couple games against the _allas Mavs in the next 10 days.
GO SPURS GO!!
ETA: Props for LeBron going into MSG and roughing up the Knicks. The Braveheart front court got off to a bit of an inauspicious start, losing to Orlando, but i still think they'll be tough.
Reggie Miller, dirty player, need i say more?

I still think the pistons will need a few more games to get the chemistry going.
Who do you all think will win the east and get swept in the finals?
Indiana, Detroit, or New Jersey?

I'm thinking maybe it's Detroit's time to be in the Finals but We'll have to wait and see.

Pacific Division battle
Of course, I think the Lakers have a fighting chance, once Karl Malone gets back, and especially because they have a rather large man, an ultracentre, in the middle.
In terms of tonight's game, the Kings don't have C-Webb, Brad Miller and that annoying lil' pest, Bobby Jackson, so we're not talking teams at full strength.
It should be a good one.

I agree that the Lakers have a VERY strong Center...Shaq.
If the Spurs or any other western team want a win against them they would have to keep Shaq off the paint and out of his "comfort zone." They are going to have to make Shaq *work* for points even if it means fouling him.

It's gonna take some time for Karl to get back into shape but when that happens, the lakers will be all right. Shaq still needs to improve his free throw shooting, but other than that, I think they can overtake the Kings.
