As an addendum, Bloomsburg has 5 locals, East Stroudsburg has 1, Kutztown has 1, Millersville has 2 and Shippensburg has 2. They rush & function the same as NPCs. Just to clarify since Bloom's Greek system is hella bigger than for example Mansfield's.
Also I did this a while ago and I only got 7 Tri Sig chapters.

Most of the larger sororities won't come to most of the PSAC schools. As an alum of Bloomsburg, I can tell you that they want no part of our greek system, because it has huge flaws with risk management and hazing. Same can be said for other schools. West Chester, IUP and Clarion have the bigger groups, but for the most part, we're not recognized as having strong systems.
That being said, I'm a happy PSAC alum

I'd love to see statistics (since everyone seems to be on a stats fit) on how many NPC groups have closed at these campus. I know KD had chapters at several and they were closed for various reasons, including hazing.
From the stories that i've heard.... I don't think i'd want KD to colonize at some of the campus eiether!
But I must say that there are plenty of awesome PSAC alumnae out there

I think a lot of it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. These schools and chapters are not full of horrible people, but when the nationals keep saying they are, that's what the administration believes and what they convey to the rest of the campus. Also, I can tell you firsthand that while some of the reports are true, some are greatly exaggerated. /soapbox
As long as SSHE schools have what I believe is an unwarranted black mark on their foreheads, the bad will fester and just get worse.
Also, in response to polarpi's post, it seems that most of the chapters that have closed have been of sororities that are very strong in the South. I do think there is some degree of culture clash that goes on. That's just an observation.

ADPi's Epsilon Iota chapter at Indiana University (PA) closed back in 1978. That's the only chapter I think we've had at one of the PSAC schools (the only one I have a record of)

Thank you 33girl! Looks like you're right. I waded back into my working papers and the school websites, and Sigma Sigma Sigma is at Indiana (PA), Bloomsburg, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Lock Haven, and Slippery Rock, for a total of 7. I' going back to change the numbers on the first post.

Chi Omega has never had a chapter at any of these campuses.

33girl, I agree with you that some of it is overblown, but honestly the hazing that exists on my campus has been there since before I went to school there and continues today. Most nationals don't pay much mind to their groups there, until they are in trouble, and then it's a bit late. I also know that a few of our locals were considering going national, but had VERY few bites on takers.

As far as I'm able to find out, there are at least four more NPC sororities that have never had a chapter at any of them, either: Tri Delta and "PKT."

And that's the whole problem...and then the chapters there come to associate ANY sort of national involvement with being reprimanded. SSHE Greeks need love too.
Who's "PKT"? I know that 2 different groups at my school wanted to go Tri Delt but we didn't have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter or any sort of housing available.

Very sorry; I guess I used a term that's not commonly recognized around the country. "PKT" is shorthand for "Pi Phi, Kappa, and Theta."
Lesson learned: spell things out in full.
