Phi Sig Headquarters Moving to Maryland!

NEWS RELEASE
March 3, 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Sandy Grossman, National President
(201) 320-0550

PHI SIGMA SIGMA TO RELOCATE CENTRAL OFFICE

Effective summer 2004, Phi Sigma Sigma Fraternity will be establishing a new
Central Office located in Howard County, Maryland, a suburb of Baltimore.
This new headquarters will be home to Phi Sigma Sigma's staff, records and
historic memorabilia. The current office in Boca Raton, Florida will remain
open through summer 2004.

The decision to move to Howard County, Maryland is the culmination of a
yearlong headquarters study. Eight cities were initially identified as
potential Central Office sites. A headquarters site selection committee
researched many factors including cost and availability of commercial
property, proximity of local services, quality of life for local residents
and travel and accommodation costs for visiting officers and members.

The committee completed this research, toured properties in five cities, and
collected feedback from collegiate and alumnae members via a survey at
Leadership Training School. After analyzing the data, the committee
submitted its findings to Supreme Council in fall 2003. Supreme Council
selected Howard County based on the availability of affordable, desirable
property within close proximity to the airport and train station, hotels,
shops and restaurants.

Specifics regarding the location and details of Phi Sigma Sigma's new
Central Office will be released once negotiations are complete. A search
for a new executive director based in Howard County/Baltimore will begin
shortly.

If you are interested in making a donation to support the purchase of
headquarters, please contact Michelle Snyder at (561) 451-4415 or email
msnyder@phisigmasigma.org.

Phi Sigma Sigma is a national women's fraternity founded in 1913 at Hunter
College in New York City. Currently, Phi Sigma Sigma has over 55,000
initiated members worldwide, with 107 collegiate chapters and colonies and
35 alumnae groups across North America. More information on the organization
can be found at www.phisigmasigma.org.

Oh My! This is weird news! Wow, now my girls will never have an excuse to not know CO's address!

And this does make sense, considering most of Supreme Council lives in or around Maryland!

I think it was for several reasons.

1) the Boca Raton office was not large enough to provide room for all the people who work there now AND phi sig records AND memorabilia, etc.

2) The space was leased, and most people felt that it was a waste of money to be leasing a space when we could own our own.

3) They wanted a headquarters that was more functional and centrally located for our chapters. The office staff will be able to provide better service for our sisters now that there will be more space available, in addition to meeting spaces and rooms set up to display memorabilia.

I encourage all of you to donate to the new headquarters, if possible. This is a very exciting time for Phi Sig!

Being that my chapter is in Boca Raton, its sad to see it go, BUT the sisters that have visited Central Office said it is dissapointing to see a poster and some cubicles! So perhaps a nice permanat location is ALOT better. NO more dropping off checks in person for my chapter I hope it is something nice!!
