Just a nominiclature that is use to refer to a single sorority in general.

Kappa Deltas are normally called "KDs"

Kappa Alpha Thetas are called "Thetas"

Kappa Kappa Gammas are called "Kappas"

XYZ=a generic name for referring to any sorority, if you wanted to create a hypothetical example....

Kappas are also used to refer to the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi. XYZ is not really a sorority, but used in fictional situations.
