Ugly Wedding Dresses
Ok so seeing as my Big and I are just about the two coolest people alive , we were online looking at wedding dresses for no apparent reason when we stumbled upon this delightful little gem. www.uglyweddingdress.com From the wonderful designs to the hilarious comments made by the site's owner, this is undoubtedly the funniest site we've seen yet. You guys have to see it. I'm not really sure if this post belongs in Cool Sites or Chit Chat, but mods, if you feel the need to move it, go right ahead.

The last dress for today (with the bare midriff) has Britney Spears/Christina Aguilara all over it. It probably disappears after 55 hours, too.

I'm a personal "fan" if you can call it that of the American Flag one. Isn't it illegal to misrepresent the American Flag like that? If it isn't, after looking at that dress I feel that it should be. I feel really bad for the husband of the bride that buys one of those dresses. He's not supposed to see the bride in her dress until the actual wedding day, so he's expecting something nice, and instead he gets anything from that site. No wonder so many women get left behind at the altar...
Oh and can I just say that when I finally do get married (gotta find the guy first!), my dress will not come from St. Pucchi

Funny story about weddings.....
About 4 years ago, at the shower for my cousin's bride to be, my Aunt Betty and her best friend thought it would be funny to put on a skit for the guests. The skit mockingly told the story of how my cousin and his fiance chose a patriotic theme for their wedding, chosing red dresses for the bridesmaids and blue tuxes for the groomsmen. Most of the guests thought it pretty funny, until my other cousin, who announced her engagement 20 minutes later, said she was going to have a patriotic theme herself (she was born on July 5th, they got engaged on memorial day... blah blah). Wasn't it funny that Aunty Betty predicted that? She ignorged the mocking tone amazingly well.
Her ring, a diamond with two rubies and two sapphires, followed the theme.

Speaking of ugly dresses, my sister-in-law and I got into a discussion about how beautiful and elegant the gowns are now compared to when we got married. We both agreed that if we were doing it now we would do things totally differently. Styles and tastes just change and there's nothing you can do about it. I don't think it matters how much you spend, either. My sis-in-law was on a budget, I wasn't. I got married in 1994 and my dress which I loved at the time, was SO over-the-top with the beading. The entire bodice was encrusted, the sleeves were encrusted, the waistline around the hem, up the front of the skirt, around the back, and along the bustle and train. I had one of those big poufy veils that is gathered at the top and then falls down the back. I guess it was pretty at the time but it really looks dated to me now when I see the pictures!!!!!
My hubby and I are planning to renew our vows in the chapel for our 10th in September and I am trying to decide what to wear. I am thinking maybe just a simple, white strapless dress with an a-line skirt.
