has anyone upgraded their badge?

I've been thinking of upgrading my badge.

Has anyone else upgraded?

I graduated in 1997, and I don't wear it very much, just about four or five times a year, so I'm not sure about it. I just think the ones with pearls all around it are so pretty.

My badge has pearls with one ruby in each point, but I recently ordered another one. I haven't gotten it yet, but it'll have CZs with 3 rose sapphires in each point -- I can't wait to get it!!!

If you decide you do want to get another badge, you can order a used one from Executive Office. It may (but doesn't necessarily) have someone else's initials on it, but it will cost considerably less than a new badge, which could be a good thing if it isn't going to be worn too much.

I got a very nice refund from the University when it came time to order badges, so I was able to get the one with four rubies in the points and pearls the rest of the way around. I also have a plain guard--a guard with pearls seemed a little TOO bling-bling, ya know?

A few of our new sisters ordered their badges with rose sapphires. If I go to work in Greek Life after my undergrad, I might convince myself to splurge on one of the rose sapphire and diamond badges. Or maybe I could find one of those opal badges that pop up every now and then, and beat all badge collectors to a bloody pulp before they get their hands on it!!!

That would be cool, too.

Oh, those are BEAUTIFUL! My mom's, from when she was in college, has opals all the way around except for one sapphire in each point; she also has her badge guard with opals in it, too. It's so beautiful, I wish they still made them with opals.

Rose sapphires aren't mentioned as being available in the Masters of Design catalog, but they are available -- so are topaz, peridot, etc... even turquoise is available -- so I can't imagine that opals wouldn't be available if you asked for them. I don't know if they'd be able to do it for the same price or anything, or whether they'd be blue opals (like my mom's and most other opal badges) or white ones, but I'm sure it would still look spectacular with white ones.

Oh, wow! I never knew that! I always assumed that if it wasn't on the brochure, they couldn't do it. I might have to look into that and leave information lying where my parents can find it for graduation presents.

Thanks for the information, Sunshine! By the way, I don't suppose you could share some pictures of your mom's badge and guard---they sound absolutely stunning!
