This is a serious question. I despise Bush as much as the next person, but please please please no Bush bashing in this thread. I honestly would like to know what domestic policies or intiatives has the president enacted during his term that have proved good for the country?

1. Even though I strongly disagree with the huge spending, it is the deficit that is creating economic expansion and movement (coupled with actions by China in terms of their banks). That is 1 thing.
2. More resources are going towards domestic security. Whether or not you feel safe, I feel safer than I did 3 years ago.
3. Space programs and research are getting more funding.
4. Bush has a more diverse cabinet and group of people running this country than any other. He has reached out to hispanics which are the largest minority through domestic and foreign policy.
5. Whether you agree or not about how he's doing it, Bush is doing more for the AIDS epidemic than any other president does or did.
6. Spending on research towards hydrogen cars has increased greatly. The results might not arrive as soon as he'd like, but they'd be welcome.
7. Bush has gone through alternate modes such as charities to tackle problems of the poor. Simply saying keep church and state separate is easy when you ignore the fact that religious charities are often efficient and have broad reach.
8. The prescription plan.
9. Lower taxes.
10. The ability to maneuver down the middle and keep right-wingers from making decisions for him even though they helped elect him.
11. He created the internet.
