Hi everyone,
I realize that not everyone may agree with my politics, but I had a good friend murdered a few years ago and cannot see any reason why assault weapons should be in the hands of the public.
Below is an email from the Million Mom March about current legislation to keep assault weapons off our streets. Please take a moment and call if you can.
ACTION ALERT: CALL YOUR SENATORS MONDAY!
We have an opportunity to demonstrate to Congress that we don't want assault weapons on our streets. There will be a vote on Tuesday in the Senate on an amendment to the immunity bill that would continue the assault weapons ban for another 10 years. This is a referendum on assault weapons and we need to win this vote!!!!
We are very close to a victory, but we need every vote to pull it off.
ACTION ALERT
1. Call your Senators via the Capitol switchboard (202-224-3121)
2. Urge them to vote "YES" on the Feinstein/Warner Assault Weapons Amendment.
BACKGROUND
The Assault Weapons Ban passed in 1994 expires in September of this year unless it is renewed by Congress and the President. A vote to renew the Assault Weapons Ban is scheduled for next Tuesday on the Senate Floor.
Every major law enforcement agency in the country-from chiefs of police to sheriffs to rank-and-file cops on the beat-fought hard to get the ban passed. Polls show that nearly 7 out of 10 Americans want to keep the ban in place.
