Black Diamond Formal 2004
When and where is BDF this year?? (especially Gamma Upsilon)
And does your chapters still invite their alumnae to attend?

BDF is going to be March 27th... which is odd.. it just seems VERY SOON? (we didn't have one last year which is why I wouldn't know if it is soon or not?) We just found out today when it was going to be, but we were not told any other specifics...
I think it's early on because we have a ton of mixers this semester on top of philanthropy events, and greek week and everything else
I will pm you sherra

Epsilon Xi chapter does BDF in the fall, usually right before Thanksgiving... We have had them at multiple different places (country clubs, hotels, etc.), but this years was at Mormon Lake Lodge... I liked the setting, but I am a fan of the southwest country look that the lodge has.

That actually isn't early at all. They were always scheduled in April when I was active, but it was known it could fall any time between Initiation and Senior Send off. (March-May)

Interesting! We always called our formal the Black Diamond Ball. We would also occasionally name a Black Diamond Beau, if a man proved worthy - the BDB at the BDB!

that's neat... I just though it was a little weird for them to tell us only about a month before it actually took place?

I think inviting alum is dependent on the school. I remember another sister and myself asking about Gamma Rho's BDB and asking if Alum's were invited and we were told in no uncertain terms by the Alum president that it is for collegians only. We personally thought it was kind of lame.
I look at the fact that A) the alums who would go would probably be the ones in the alum association, so hey it encourages collegians to join the associations when they graduate. And B) HELLO every WOMAN LOVES to get dressed up and be PRETTY!!!!! Now that I'm an alum I don't have an excuse to go get a pretty dress and get my hair and nails done. I want that. LOL.

Just my opinion about what we were told.

You have dinner? a real dinner?? None of the BDF that I went to had much of a dinner. It was casino tables, dancing and buffet.

Sure do! We have a sit down dinner or a buffet...well I mean the collegiates do. Its wonderful! Sometimes you have to pay like $10 though...the rest of it comes out of the chapter budget!! (Our house total is 65...big enough to give us enough in the budget...small enough to be enough money to almost cover it!)

Wow!! We had very strict bylaws that said that the chapter NEVER paid for a sister's food! So, the chapter would pay for everything but the dinners at the BDB, and we'd have to pay for the dinners for our dates & ourselves.

Yea...I think we paid a portion to bring the price down so we could afford to go! (As we all know I graduated 4 years ago so I could be wrong )
