Is it rude?

My fiance has a huge family and lots of friends (70+ of whom were in attendance when he proposed). How do we tactfully invite everyone to the wedding but NOT the reception? I have gone to lots of sites about it, but they say to just not put the card with the info in the invitation, but I know people.... they will call or email, and ask for directions and times.

What do I do?

it is not rude to not want to invite everyone to the reception. if you are attempting to keep the reception to intimate family and friends, i think honesty is best. do some additional research on the various wedding sites because i am certain there is a protocal for that. i think it would make sense that those you wish to invite to the shower should have a card indicating that information. good luck.
