new fraternity!!!
I just found out last night that next fall we will be getting a new fraternity on campus! As of right now, we only have ATO and Phi Delt and just 3 sororities (Alpha Gam, Phi Mu, and AST). So it's really exciting for the entire Greek system to know that we will be growing!! Our Greek advisor sent out information to all the IFC fraternities, and she's already gotten replies from 5 or 6. We don't know who will be coming to Belmont yet, but as soon as we find out, I will let you all know. YAY!

Always nice to hear from a Belmont Abby. Sorry, bad joke.
Hope Delt is in the running! Good luck.

Another couple of active ATO chapters -- MTSU and Union Univ.
I almost went to Belmont! I started out as a music major, and went to Union University instead. So cool to see someone from Nashville...

Just to add on... we have an active, and very strong ATO chapter at UC Riverside. We're also in the process of expansion here. We have 8 IFC fraternities and 6 sororities. The sororities are dead-set against not expanding, and we've had I believe 12 interested fraternities inquire into the campus. We'll most likely have a Sig Ep chapter though, since they've waited for us to expand for almost 3 years and they have the best relationship with our Greeks so far.
Good luck in your expansion processes!

I can think of 3 ATO chapters off hand. Stetson University, University of Florida, and University of Central Florida.

We've kind of gotten off subject, but more on the ATO thing...I have two brothers who are ATO alums from 2 schools with active chapters-Univeristy of Texas and Southwest Texas. There is also a chapter here at Texas Tech, but from what I've seen, they are kind of quiet & don't have a lodge (we have non-residential lodges instead of houses)...however, they did get some good PR last semester with one of their philanthropy projects, so maybe they are on the way up? I also believe they are active at Texas A&M....
As for your IFC expansion--good to hear! Hope you get a group that will make your Greek community even stronger!

2 groups at once may seem like a lot... It's really not. I firmly believe that if a fraternity is worth joining people will join it. There are in almost all cases plenty of men that would join but for some reason or another have not. It just takes more (and better) groups to reach them.

I wish there were more fraternities at the college that I went to. We only had one local and one national. Doesn't make the dating pool very big!

And the new fraternity is ....
Phi Kappa Tau!
It is 99% definite that they will be colonizing at Belmont in the fall, but there are still a few little details that have to be worked out.
