NEW "POWER"?????

The Democrats have gained control in the Senate. Will this change in "power" affect anything? Will it affect Dubya? Will it affect "our" state of affairs as we know it?

I do not think it will change anything other than the Dems will have the majority in the senate. We still will be in the minority in the house of reps and of course the republican pres.

It will most definitely make a difference. Whichever party controls the Senate determines who will head the major committees. In this case, the Republican committee chairs will have to step down and hand their positions over to Democrats. Tom Daschle will also step up from minority leader to majority leader, giving he and his current minority whip more authority and pull. I think this is going to make it a little more difficult for Bush to push a lot of his programs... a tiny majority can make a huge difference.
