Thumbs up Sorors, did you see our girl on Lifetime last night?

Our Soror, Star Jones, gave a great shout out to AKA last night. She pledged at American University in Washington and she talked about how we are the oldest and best greek letter org for black women, and how dynamic and spectacular we are I am glad I watched it because I found out two things that I didn't know: 1) Star held a national office in AKA and 2)that the actress Vanessa Bell Calloway (also a soror) is her best friend. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

I had the pleasure of meeting Soror Star some time back and she is trully proud of AKA. Although I missed the program I am sure she represented.

If I may be so humbled to post on this topic, I too admire Star Jones tremedously. She is one of the fiqures that I looked at when I considered which organization I would like to attempt to join. Her Beauty, Intelligence, Grace, Poise and Sassiness all helped lead me to believe that becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated would be the right thing to do. I too aspire to become an attorney so in yet another way Ms. Jones emulates what I would like to be. It warms my heart as well to see you Ladies show love for your organization and love for each other. Keep up the positive representation. Much Love!!!!!

Question

Hello,

Excuse me for posting on this thread even though it is directed to members of Alpha Kappa Alpha. I have a burning question...is Lela Rochon also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha? I have heard conflicting theories.
I did see the show last night, her battle with her tumor around her esophagus brought me to tears. I was also impressed at the way Dr. Norma White so readily accepted her upon her arrival in Houston...boy oh boy, I can go on for days... :

THAT I did learn, while yet a humble little Ivy, struggling to come up from the ground!

When she became a "famous face", I remember running to my history book to check to make sure the Star Jones of the OJ trial was the same Starlet Jones I had seen in my big sister's history book. Sure enough, she was one and the same!

I have yet to see her Intimate Portrait, but I'm glad to hear one of our own CLAIM us!

Cool

Soror Jones definitely represented well. Even though I've seen that episode 3 times I always watch it when it re-airs!! My Neo met Soror Vanessa Bell Calloway in Los Angeles a couple of months ago. My Neo introduced herself as a Soror and Soror Calloway was very nice and took a picture with her. A friend who was with my Neo at the time said "oh , I thought you were a Delta"-lol, needless to say Soror Calloway was like, "Girl don't be calling me no Delta!, I'm an AKA!"-I thought that was funny, no offense to my Delta sisterfriends!
