Shall We Dance? (J.Lo version)

Has anyone seen it yet? I just saw it today, and I highly recommend the movie, even for non-J.Lo fans. My parents have the original Japanese version on DVD somewhere, and I'd like to get hold of that too. I think its theme is a nice change. Usually, movies with a workaholic spouse show the wife being depressed and unwanted, rather than the husband. Yes, Richard Gere's character works, but his wife works even more, and he felt neglected, which was why he wanted to take dancing lessons (well, it was partially J.Lo's sadness too). If you want to find out more, GO WATCH THE MOVIE!

Its a remake of a 1996 Japanese movies that got a lot of popularity. I would like to see that original.

This movie, was a lot of fun and poignant. I thought it did a good job of showing how you can have all the superficial trappings of success and still find yourself unhappy.

The dancing was great, made me want to take ballroom dancing

It was also interesting to see ow Gere's character transferred his initial attraction to Lopez into a more general love of dance.

Question for the ladies: When Sarandon's character crashes his Dance competition, in effect ruining it for him, why did she get to be mad at him?

I mean why was she mad at him? Would you ladies be mad if your significant other hid dance lessons from you?

And wouldn't you be more contrite than anything if you just ruined his competition for him?

Shouldn't he be mad at her for ruining his time?

I don't think Beverly was mad at John, but mad at her daughter for doing so. She was just taking it out on him because he's never home (which is silly, because she isn't always home either. It seems that she's either working or doing her own thing. At least that's what I got out of the movie). Of course, she could also be angry because he didn't include her in the dancing lessons. But really, how would he know that she'd be interested. She's too busy.
