Books Authored by members of Alpha Kappa Alpha

We have book threads which exist in this forum from days gone by. However, we do not have a thread which focuses on releases by our own dear Sorors. Thanks to LBF, he has been resourceful enough to provide me with this information.

www.tpcarter.com

If you haven't heard, T.P. Carter's novel Behind Those Eyes,
hit number one on the Karibu Books Hardback Fiction
Bestseller list its second week in stores in the DC metro
area. For those of you who don't know, she is a young Soror
with a phenomenal first novel! She is a strong contemporary
writer who is climbing the ranks of African American fiction
meteorically. If you don't have the book, GET IT! It's a
fantastic novel. I don't read fiction very often, and I was
more than shocked at this young Soror's level of skill. The
story is great, the characters are phenomenal, and the prose
is even better!

If you are in the DC Metro area, you can get her book at any
Karibu Book store, and if you are not, you can get it online
at tpcarter.com.

Visit this Soror's site (even the site is outstanding)
www.tpcarter.com to get a description of the novel, info on
the author and to read preview chapters!

I've read all of her books and I enjoyed them! She is the bestselling author of five novels: Scenes from a Sistah, Getting to the Good Part, Blind Ambitions, Child of God, and Tastes Like Chicken. She lives in Los Angeles, where she is currently developing projects for film and television.

Thanks for this thread! Since I'll be "free" this weekend (sans hubby & child), think I'll pick something up.

A sistah is always looking for a good book. Especially when she is trying to recover from knee surgery.

Red face

Bebe Moore Campbell is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and she is the author of several outstanding novels. My favorite is Your Blues Ain't Like Mine . A close second is her latest novel (that I know of) entitled What You Owe Me. She's right up there with Zora Neale Hurston when it comes to superb story telling. Happy Reading!

Thumbs up Light reading

Lyah Beth LeFlore is co-author of Cosmopolitan Girls, a black "chick-lit" book. A good, quick, light read.

AKA authors

I enjoy BeBe Moore Campbell and Toni Morrison too, however there is a little known book by another Soror which I advise everyone to check out it is called More Christian than African American by Soror Kimberly Cash Tate, I have reread this book about three times and is one of my favorites, I finally bought a copy for little or nothing off Amazon.com.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Authors

Sorors and others:

I wanted to share this resource with you. I was quite enlighted to see the many women authors that are also sorors!

The site is beautifully designed by Soror Gloria Harper Dickinson, Ph.D.

Enjoy!
