Congratulations! Just remember to be careful; it's a LOT easier to run your balance up than to pay it down!

It's weird; my VISA limit was recently raised. I have a $45,700 credit limit. I don't, however, have a job. Very strange indeed.

Oh, I am not planning on going shopping, my card is for school other wise I only charge what I can pay before the month is out.

WOWie, I have had $100,000 Credit limit on several Cards.

Cut them up and trashed them!

Got a bill from MNBA new charge $35.00 to have their card, called them and said cancell this card, I dont pay some some asswholes to use their cards!

When you establish credit, check out the rate of financing charges! IMEDIATELLY!

Get your credit up by paying it off, you will get more damn offers than you know what to do with! Cut them up or if pre-approved and have a card in them, CUT THEM UP, trash them!

oh, I agree. I only have one card, with B of A. My interest rate is really low too. I have friends my age who have cards that they are always over on or they only have like $500 available.... they are not credit smart.

How wrong you are.... I used to work for a large bank (very similar to Bank of America) and the credit department would raise all of the high risk peoples cards all of the time... sorry. They make money off of you screwing up, so they are willing to have you screw up, you dig? That is how it works. But I am sure you have good credit anyways...

gotta agree with krazy...i've heard that at times they'll raise credit limits if you come close to/go over your limit.

Actually I pay off my card every month. I had 95% available, so I doubt that I am "high risk"

They just also changed me to PLatinum about 2 months ago.

I know I have good credit becuase I was able to buy a car with my credit alone. I have had that car for 2 years and are making 1.5 or double payments.

If you want a better credit rating you should pay your card balances "down" and not "off" each month. Credit companies don't care that you are able to charge something and pay it off at the end of the month, they actually don't like people like that because they make no money of of them. But they do like to see people that are capable of using a credit card from time to time and gradually paying the balance down over time. They like to see the commitment to the payments and that the payments are made on time.

And I do agree with Krazy because I deal with credit card companies through work all the time. They love to raise the credit limits of "high risk users" because they can make a ton of money off of them.

But they do also raise the credit limits of those who have good credit. I'm sure you are a user with good credit but I'm telling you, they really get ppl when they raise those limits man. I've dealt with people that were 20,000 or so thousand dollars in credit card debt and I couldn't even imagine that.


And speaking of your car, where did you get the loan through? Was it through a dealership Finance company or a bank?

I usually keep like $25 on my card to make the company happy.

I got my car loan with GMAC banking. Really great rate (6.9%). But it is only a Cavalier, but its still mine.

I don't plan to buy anything on this unless it is needed (like new brakes) or for school. My sister worked for Discover for about 7 years. She keeps getting at me to get my credit report, I really should.

You should "try" to get a copy of your credit report once a year or at least once every other year. I say this because identity theft has been on the rise in recent years and the best way to make sure you aren't becoming a victim is to check out that report. Make sure there aren't accounts on it that you didn't open or that there aren't debts on there that you aren't responsible for.

Also make sure to watch for you statements each momth. Even if you don't receive one report it. It might have been lost in the mail but it also might have been stolen and your account # could be compromised.

As long as you use your credit card like cash, everything will be fine.

It's when you start carrying a balance and intend to "someday" pay it off when you have a problem.

I actually make $ off my Discover card every year, 1% cash back
