OMG, I was so scared.

I am so freaked out right now. I was picked to go get dinner so I headed to Subway to pick me up a sub and to Rubey Tuesday next door for my family. So after waiting for "TO GO" in Rubey Tuesdays I headed out to my car. There was these two men (in a car) on the way to my car and they started to scream and yell at me to come over to them and one started to get out. Well they did not realized which car is mine so I jumped in and hauled a**. and they FOLLOWED ME. We both got caught at a stop light and the passenger started to get out again. I got a chance to floor it and I drove like mad to get away. The men still followed me for like 2 miles weaving in and out of traffic. Finally they got stuck behind a school bus and I was able to cut through a neigborhood. I go home and pulled in the carport (you can not see my car from the road) .

I then membered to call the police and my mom calmed me down.

I can't beleive this happened in my town. There is only like 20,000 people here.

PLus it was like 4:00 when it happened.

I have a night class to I have swapped cars with my brother and changed clothers and put on a hat.

What is this world coming too?

No, I don't. I only had my cell phone and my credit card with me so I did not drop any thing. Plus I dont think the men knew which car was mine. I don't even know who the men were. I never seen them in my life.

I have been in this situation more than once (crazy NY/NJ/CT road ragers ). Unfortunately the police can't do much unless they actually attack you or damage your car.

What I've learned: Call 911 from your cell. Don't go home, to work, or anywhere else you frequent. Instead, drive to the nearest police station. Get as good a description of the car and driver (and passengers if any) as you can.

They may very well have your plate #, so be careful. You probably should drive your brother's car for a while, if he's ok with that.

The same thing happened to me once and I didn't know who the guys were. Because the fire station was closer than the police station. I drove there instead (I didn't know if they could help me--but they were still some kind of "authority" I guess).

I honked my horn until it got irritating and those guys drove off. The guys at the fire station did tell me that it was a good thing that I drove there instead of chance-ing to a police station. It was at night, and I could have easily been carjacked at a red light.

This happened to our son one night a couple of years ago when he was out with a couple of his HS girlfriends. A bunch of guys in another car was following and hasseling them.

He had the presence of mind to pull into a Fire station.

The other car hung around until the firemen came out to see what was going on.

Actually, you're supposed to go the nearest public location. At night a police station may not be the best place (especially small ones) because the cops may actually be out on the streets and not in the station.

There should always be someone in the station, and if you're on with 911 they can be ready for you.

If you know where the police station is and it's nearby, I still would go there. (Sometimes just the fact that you pulled into a police station will spook the guy following you.) Otherwise, do go to a public place, but be sure it's a well-trafficked place (and well-lit if it's nighttime). Pulling into an abandoned strip mall isn't going to help.

In larger towns and cities, there is generally a desk officer or sergeant -- but there are some small jurisdictions where all of the on duty officers may be on patrol.
