Where is Cain?
Ok, I have a question. Yall know me!
Ok, Cain's punishment was that he was doomed to walk the earth forever, right?
If that is the case, is he still around? And did he age during this time, or did he stay the same age?
OR
When Christ died for our sins, did that take away Cain's sin, and he was able to die? And did he die instantly, or did he live some more years and then die?
I think I need to take some actually courses on the Bible. I have MANY questions!!

When God said that Cain would be a "fugitive and a vagabond" (Genesis 4:12) I take this to mean that Cain would have no peace/rest on the earth, especially since his own thought of what he did would follow him everywhere. I don't think it meant that he would live forever. I think God gave Cain a "second chance", if you will, so that he would have a chance to see the errors of his ways and repent. Cain obviously lived some more years because the Bible talks about he "knew his wife" and "bare Enoch" (vs. :17).

I have heard other people say this as well, but in other places inthe Bible it says that sin entered the earth through Adam and that we are all decendants of Adam. If there were other people, could we all say for sure that we are decendants of Adam? I don't think so. Also, Genesis 5:4 says that "Adam had other sons and daughters" I am assuming that Cain married one of his sisters or neices. Adam lived over 900 years so there was a lot of time to have a bunch of chirren!!

From John Wesley's explanatory notes on the bible:
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt on the east of Eden - Somewhere distant from the place were Adam and his religious family resided: distinguishing himself and his accursed generation from the holy seed; in the land of Nod - That is, of shaking or trembling, because of the continual restlessness of his spirit. Those that depart from God cannot find rest any where else. When Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, he never rested after
From matthew henry commentary
We have here a further account of Cain, and what became of him after he was rejected of God. I. He tamely submitted to that part of his sentence by which he was hidden from God’s face; for (v. 16) he went out from the presence of the Lord, that is, he willingly renounced God and religion, and was content to forego its privileges, so that he might not be under its precepts. He forsook Adam’s family and altar, and cast off all pretensions to the fear of God, and never came among good people, nor attended on God’s ordinances, any more. Note, Hypocritical professors, that have dissembled and trifled with God Almighty, are justly left to themselves, to do something that is grossly scandalous, and so to throw off that form of godliness to which they have been a reproach, and under colour of which they have denied the power of it. Cain went out now from the presence of the Lord, and we never find that he came into it again, to his comfort. Hell is destruction from the presence of the Lord, 2 Th. 1:9. It is a perpetual banishment from the fountain of all good. This is the choice of sinners; and so shall their doom be, to their eternal confusion. II. He endeavoured to confront that part of the sentence by which he was made a fugitive and a vagabond; for, 1. He chose his land. He went and dwelt on the east of Eden, somewhere distant from the place where Adam and his religious family resided, distinguishing himself and his accursed generation from the holy seed, his camp from the camp of the saints and the beloved city, Rev. 20:9. On the east of Eden, the cherubim were, with the flaming sword, ch. 3:24. There he chose his lot, as if to defy the terrors of the Lord. But his attempt to settle was in vain; for the land he dwelt in was to him the land of Nod (that is, of shaking or trembling), because of the continual restlessness and uneasiness of his own spirit. Note, Those that depart from God cannot find rest any where else.

Just a side note from 12 years of Catholic school , but Adam and Eve had another child, a son named Seth. Seth in Hebrew means, "anointed" or "appointed one". In the Old Testament he was the youngest son of Adam and Eve, and forefather of the entire human race.
Another reason I know this is because my bf's name is Seth

Ideal08,
I don't believe Caine had to wonder the land forever.
Genesis
4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
4:11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
4:12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
4:13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Sorry for the long post.

Hi y'all. The part I don't understand is where hs says that everyone who sees him, will slay him...who else was there except Eve, Adam, and him? unless Adam and Eve had an entire population of kids in the interim, or something like that. Shalom, you're pretty good at breaking this stuff down, any info?

1Woman of Virtue,
Look at Genesis 1:26-31. God created man--male and female to have dominon over the earth and then read Genesis 2:7-25 where it talks about Adam being created for the purpose of tilding the Garden of Eden and Eve's creation and why. So by the time Adam and Eve where kicked out of the garden and Cain was exiled, there were already people there. Adam and Eve I BELIEVE, were not the first human beings but rather the first husband and wife.
Again, sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps.

Thought this was appropriate here on this post ..... 'QUOTED FROM Shalom'
Hey LadyAKA~
Today and for the next 3 days, I will be fasting from the Internet (I know,
ain't that a trip, we can actually fast from the Internet LOL).
I'll be fasting and doing spiritual warfare against whoever this "xxxxxx" (I took out the name) person is. Clearly, this person has been assigned by the enemy to do his disruptive work...and his work is to bring disunity, disharmony, and confusion to a forum that has been so encouraging in MANY ways to anyone who comes to visit.
I'm just tired of every other week for the last few months, somebody's being pumped and pimped by the devil himself!
Tell AKATUDE, and AKA2D'91 along with the rest of you Ladies Of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Inc. on the GreekChat Forum to know that GOD is in CONTROL and HE can
use even situations as crazy as this one to not only show the universe who
HIS Alpha Kappa Alpha Women are, but for HIM to get the GLORY in you Ladies
handling your business even over the Internet with Dignity, Love and Grace!
Don't get distracted by this person(s)...we will see GOD rightly handle this
matter!
Until then my Greekchat Sister In The LORD, YOU stay blessed!

I am sad she had to take herself away from here, but I learned that I need to do the same for a while - this stress and MESS is not healthy.

jali0004, Not only did Adam and Eve have Seth, but there were other "sons and daugthers" as well, so Seth was not the only 'forefather' of the human race. Either way, I guess we are all related!
