Thetas in More magazine
The current issue of More magazine (the new incarnation of Ladies Home Journal, I think -- a friend gave me the copy which she'd already read) has an article about 8 Kappa Alpha Thetas from Colorado State, class of '75 (IIRC). They had a reunion last year. The article showed photos of when they were in college and now, and had biographical sketches. Didn't say much about how Theta influenced their lives, but the continuing association was interesting.

It would be interesting to know how the story got into the magazine. Maybe one of the group is related to someone on the editorial staff?

That I do not know about but is always possible. I do know this isnt the first time that Theta has been mentioned in a magazine like that and maybe even more than once in More magazine. I heard something similar to that a few months back. I'm going to check a few postings here and on the HQ site

I searched and searched for the magazine and couldn't find it anywhere. So, then I checked online, and no luck there either.
I'd love to read this article, because it's about women from my chapter! Does anyone have a scanner who could maybe email it to me? PM me, please, if you can!!
Thanks!

I read it but don't have it on hand... I borrowed it from someone else. Sorry!
It was cool though, one of the girls left school to become a Ford model!

That article must've come out in Nov-Dec, because I remember reading it @ a doctor's office.. And I think I posted about it too (if not here, then on one of my Yahoogroups.. )
It was a really positive article...!

It's in the December 2003/January 2004 issue (the one with Jessica Lange on the cover).
I was a little disappointed in the article - no mention of their Theta experience, either as collegians or as alumnae. It was really just then-and-now individual profiles of each of the featured women. Still, it was a nice article.
(More seems to be a lifestyle/fashion magazine for the over-40 crowd. Seems like a very nice magazine for an untapped market.)

I just read the article (much thanks to AGDalum!!) and thought I'd add something...
First of all, see the green carpet that they were standing on? When I first joined, that carpet was still there- Yuck! Our house, while strong in sisterhood, was hurting for a while- we needed new things for our facility, and it felt like no one was pulling through for us. Things were old, falling apart, etc., and there was only so much we could do ourselves.
Now, the woman in the article who is a realtor (Irene), also happens to have a great eye for design... she and the new facility board came in the summer before my senior year and turned our house around. They redecorated, fixed problems with our facility, and made our house feel like a home.
Coming back as an alum and putting in countless hours to improve the situation for younger sisters is going above and beyond the call of duty. Irene stepped in when we needed her most, and showed her love for her chapter, and for her sisters. While this article showed how much she had accomplished, it left out the impact that Theta had on her, and vice versa. My chapter, I know, feels blessed to have such a wonderful sister!
