Talking Admiration

First I want to apologize for intruding, second I want to say sorry for not searching, but this will be short & doesn't matter if it gets locked after I post. Third, I want to apologize in advance if I say anything offensive or "indiscrete". As I was so eloquently called, I'm the "whitest white girl" someone knows
On to the point: Today was the Order of Omega picnic at my school & there was the cutest older couple there. The lady had on her Alpha Kappa Alpha shirt and pants and the man had on his Omega Psi Phi hat. I bring it up because I think it is so great that NPHC organizations truely believe that membership if for a lifetime. I admire AKA's devotion to their sisters. You are totally great. For the record, the older couple was there to watch 2 undergrad AKAs get tapped into Order of Omega. When their names were anounced I heard my first "skee-wee"s

Question

Thanks for your post. Alot of white people have told me how they admire NPHC Orgs because it is a lifelong commitment (or should be). I may be dumb, but what is the Order of Omega?

From http://www.orderofomega.org/

PURPOSE OF OMEGA

** To recognize those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment;
** To bring together outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs.
** To bring together members of the faculty, alumni, and student members of the institution's fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness;
** To help create an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions.

I thought it was only me. I get the same response at work whenever I wear any para. I simply explained to them that AKA is a lifelong commitment just like the Masons.
