The NFL is pleased to announce the launch of the application process for
the 2006 Summer Student Internship Program. The NFL Summer Internship
Program is designed to provide college and graduate students a rare
glimpse into the league's playbook of business strategies.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the
organization's success while receiving an unmatched, behind-the-scenes
learning experience. Though interns will be assigned to work with a
specific department, they will also be able to explore all aspects of the
business of professional football through speaker presentations, mentoring
relationships and networking opportunities.
Approximately 25 students with diverse talents and interests will be
selected to participate in the program. Past intern assignments have
included the following departments: Communications and Public Affairs,
Consumer Products, Finance & Accounting, Football
Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Management
Council, Marketing, Media/NFL Network, Officiating and Events.
The 2006 program will begin on June 5th and concludes on Friday, August
4th. Interested students may find the program information and application
on-line at the "NFL Summer Internships" link on NFL.com, which leads to
the link below.
The selection criteria are:
First consideration will be given to undergraduates with an overall GPA of
at least 3.0, graduate students with a GPA of at least 3.3 and law
students in the top half of their class.
Applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduates entering their senior
year in the fall 2006, current seniors intending to enter a graduate or
professional school in the fall 2006, or graduate or law students
currently enrolled at and returning to school in the fall 2006
Applicants must complete the on-line application by January 15, 2006.
Applicants who are selected for interviews must be available within the
U.S.during March 2006.
All applicants will undergo a rigorous selection process. Those selected
to be interviewed will meet with members of an Internship Committee
composed of a select group of NFL employees from various departments and
positions who will evaluate prospective interns' work experience, academic
coursework and ability to suppo rt the NFL's temporary business needs. At
the completion of the interview process, the Internship Committee will
deliberate and select the 2006 summer interns. Typically, interviews are
conducted in March and decisions are made in April.
We are asking for your assistance in distributing or posting the NFL
Summer Internship link below to talented, highly motivated students of
diverse backgrounds who meet the program requirements.
If you know of student internship sites on which employers may post,
please let us know.
In addition, to help get the word out to students, we have available a
poster promoting the NFL Summer Internship Program, an image of which is
attached. If these posters would be useful to you, or if you have any
questions, please reply to this email or contact John Maguire at (212)
450-2000. Due to the extremely high volume of interested students, we will
only be accepting telephone calls from organizations such as yours or
college career offices.
