Custom fabric w/logo/greek letters
I am a Gamma Phi alum from what is now Texas State University in San Marcos Texas; formerly known as Southwest Texas State University, which is what it was when I graduated lots of years ago. I have a custom drapery business and have recently had the idea of creating custom fabric with greek letters and logos for various sororities/fraternities....I just found this site today and was hoping to get some feedback if anyone would be interested in something like this. Could you please post here whatever your thoughts might be pro or con? I would appreciate any input whatsoever.
Also, do I need to post on the "Roll" since I am a first time poster? I want to follow the rules....this looks like a fun board!
As Pledge Class President and Pledge Trainer, I had a blast as a Gamma Phi and am sorry that the sorority is no longer at my college....but I was happy to hear about the new chapter at Texas A&M.
Anyway, any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Susan! It sounds like the custom fabrics could be a neat product! Though, could you explain more about what kind of fabric you're talking about? I normally associate drapery fabric with thicker materials. Are you talking about upholstery type fabric or lighter fabrics which could be used for making cushions, tablecloths, etc? Either way, it sounds like an idea!

Well, you don't have to post on the roll call, but it's always nice to have a one-stop-shopping thread for Gamma Phis on this forum.

It would be medium to lightweight fabric, depending on its use. Obviously, although I have a custom drapery business, the use of this fabric would be different, depending on what it was being made into. I was thinking boxer shorts, pjs, tote bags, things that would need to be comfortable and washable depending on the actual application. I am open to any feedback as to what items alumni or actives or pledges might be interested in buying etc. Any and all ideas are welcome!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but have you gone through the process to get licensed to sell Gamma Phi Beta items?

Don't you have to have a product before getting it licensed? I think she was asking for our feedback regarding a potential product.

Actually, you are BOTH right! I am asking for potential ideas, since I am multiple years removed from college graduation and don't feel I have a great feel for what students/active members might want to purchase or have. Also, I am in contact w/Gamma Phi Beta regarding licensing information. This is just an idea swimming in my head right now, so I am interested in ideas so I can determine if this is really a viable business idea or not. So I am definitely not out to skip around any necessary business details like licensing, but am wide open to ideas of products with Gamma Phi Beta printed on the fabric. Thanks!

To answer your question, sure, I think I'd buy fabric with a Gamma Phi Beta theme. As for what specifically I would like, I guess I would want prints that are actually workable for tote bags, tablecloths, etc and not just fabric with big giant crescents and big chunky letters.
Now are you wanting to get ideas on what can be made from the fabric, or some more ideas about what kind of prints we'd like?

Actually, both! I also have been thinking of things like smaller letters and/or logos, not big letters and crescents, etc. Sort of repeated randomly across the fabric. I am thinking of products maybe like: bulletin boards, tablecloths, pillow cases, tote bags, shirts, pjs, boxers......what do you think? Feel free to add any and all ideas you might have. I am still in the brainstorming stage!

Oh, well I'm good at brainstorming!
bulletin boards
tablecloths
pillow cases
tote bags
shirts
pjs
boxers
eyeglass cases
throw pillows
badge/pin cushions
table runner
blankets/throws (with a softer, fuzzy material)
make-up bags
coin purses
laundry bag
car seat cover
steering wheel cover
Not all of them may be workable, but I'm just throwing out ideas which may inspire you to think of something else!
