i feel that the word "hater" is overused. to me, a hater is one who doesn't want another to succeed out of jealousy. but, if you disagree with another, people call you a hater. just because i don't like something or someone doesn't mean that i am hating. it means that i don't like it. point blank. if i don't like the outfit that another female is wearing, i just don't like it. i'm not hating on her.

I agree with both Wonderful and Lilbitty. I associate "hater" with jealousy or envy.

I associate it with jealousy as well, but I think it's overused. I heard people use it in a legitimate situation. Then I've heard people use it when others don't agree with their opnions. Then I've also heard it used by people that wish someone was jealous of them, therefor, they state that people are "hating".

Lightbulb

I am glad that someone made the word popular, because for many, many years I had been looking for a word to describe the girl that I thought was my best friend. When I started hearing the word on a regular basis, a lightbulb came on in my head and I knew that they must have been talking about her. She is a HATER in every sense of the word. She doesn't want ANYONE to get ANYWHERE in life.

And right about now, I'm feeling as though I really HATE'er!!

( Taking a deep breath and singing:
"Look at all these haters, surrounding me everyday.
I just need some time, some time to get away from....
From all these haters, I can't take it no more."

Lightbulb Sucka who late I know you hate my 98, you're gonna get yours!

I'm posting this for the simple fact of the word "hater". Many of us colored folk have a problem with accepting that we are suppose to have nice things in our lives being it a fancy house, car, wife/husband etc.... I ran into Chuch D from Public Enemy at Tennessee State University and we talked about this matter since they released the song some years back. Now what I was saying was this, if we can let go of the idea "it's hard to get those things or he/she thinks he/she is somebody cause they do have these nice things" then we can move forward. I feel there is nothing wrong with being humble and asking someone how they came up. Most of us do not do that. We would rather commentate, desegrgate, and or socially seperate. We need to let go of all this hate and see how we can make it better for the younger generation. The word hater comes from people not being able to take an honest opinion. Now sometimes it's not honest depending who it is. I told somebody the day that they needed to comb their hair and they said don't hate. But really he needed to get all those little dust balls out of his hair. That's all I was saying. I would want somebody to tell me.But don't be angry cause somebody beat you to their goal in life. One thing we got to realize is that through perseverance we all can achieve anything, but time is everything. So, right now be thankful for what you got.

You good colored folk out there, How do you feel about the word "Hater"

Angry

Hater,I use the word sometimes (mostly in a joking matter) and think that's defenition is broad enough to use in a variety of circumstances. When I think of a "hater" I think of someone who went beyond their call of duty to rain on my parade. I think people who are hating on people with nice things are just jealous. I mean why hate..... whats the point?
