V-day
Hope there wasn't a thread like this, but I'm in some trouble:
What would you do, if say you were in another country at and around valentines day and it was super expensive to ship things to your parent country, for your adorable girlfriend at home with whom you're in a very serious relationship with, and she's taking your being gone fairly hard?
I'm thinking order flowers via online, but is there anything else? I'm too poor to do much, but my money is far better spent on $ than £, so at least this way I can make up for it. Any suggestions?

There are plenty of places where you can go online to order things and have them delivered to her - go through US sites, rather than foreign ones and I'd imagine you can pay in $$.
Or ask a friend who lives near her to pick up some flowers or a gift and deliver it in your place. You can send them they money instead of having to pay outrageous shipping fees, etc.
Whatever you do, don't ship flowers yourself. (I have a friend whose boyfriend did this when she was in Rome for a semester.) They will arrive dead!
Good luck!!!

Since England is so expensive, I would go online and pay American prices for something. When I was abroad a few years ago, I ended up finding something inexpensive that the boy would be into early and shipped it at a fairly low rate--but I was on the Continent, where things are so much less expensive.

I thought you were gay. I'm confused.

You can pretty much buy ANYTHING online (I am the online Christmas present queen) and I agree with going to an American site instead of an online one.
<rant>
I personally think V-Day is pretty overblown, but that's a different thread altogether. Do you REALLY need a specific day to tell someone how you feel about them?>
<end of rant>

You are right. But as a male we dare not avoid V-Day through some type of rationalization however true. To do so is to risk enforced celibacy and much much much attitude and grief.

How sweet of you to be so worried about this.
Send her an email telling her exactly why you like or love her so much.
Go to any U.S. website w/express shipping, or...
I don't know how close you are to your parents or friends from home, but maybe you could call them and have them order/pick up/deliver fresh flowers to bring to her?? Forget how much you spend...personally I would be blown away by a guy who called his best friend from another country just so he could show up at my house on v day with one rose.
9 bucks and a phone call. It's that easy.

I have to agree with this one, it would definitely make me cry.
But, as those who know me can attest, I'm a bit of an odd duck when it comes to what I think about relationships.

definitely make your own card - my girlfriend was never happier then when I took the time to make her a card using pics and quotes from out times together.
Best booty I ever got that night!
And it is cheap

This is true. I made sure to tell distraction that I thought V-day was ridiculous way beforehand, lol.
If he suprises me it'll be nice, but I can honestly do without it. My Mom is always my official Valentine regardless!

Valentine's Day would suck if it weren't for the fact that it's the only day of the year you're encouraged to eat chocolate. Can't argue with that.
Flowers are nice, but...I think I'd rather have something that wouldn't die in a week.
