My Congressman is a CHI-O!
Hey ladies! Guess what?! My boss (Congressman Marsha Blackburn of TN and a PROUD CHI OMEGA) came in today!!! [I work for her district office in Clarksville, TN] She saw my pin and lavalier and got so excited! We talked for a while about XO stuff!!! I was so incredibly giggly (is that even a word?!) and bubbly! She made her feild representative (my immediate boss) take a pic of us for the Eleusis!!! Sigh... she even poked fun at me a bit because I made a very girly 'squeal' of delight when she suggested we take pics together! LOL The first thing I did when I got back on campus was to e-mail all my sisters and print out multiple copies of the photo! I have one copy sitting on my desk right now!!
Anyway, I just thought I should share an incredibly girly moment (yeah, I totally swooned when she was giving me-a lowly intern-so much attention) with you guys!

Very neat! I always like to hear stories of famous Chi Omegas.
Orlando's former mayor, Glenda Hood is a Chi Omega. In fact, when Chi O colonized at UCF a couple of years ago, Ms Hood was present!! Now, Glenda Hood is Florida's Secretary of State.

Oh! Swanky!
Wow... aren't we Chi-O's fabulous!? Marsha told me that she talks and hangs out with other famous CHi-O representatives in D.C.... even the ones on the other side of the aisle, too. I think that is fabulous!

oh, heck if I know
well, I am not quite sure who they ALL are, but I think a quick look in "find a chi omega" and/or research on the internet will pull up quite a few of them... I know a pat shroeder is a XO... um... and the rest escape me.

Marsha Blackburn is sooooo impressive -- neat lady!
Another Chi Omega in D.C. is Senator Blanche Lambert Lincoln (D) from Arkansas. A member of Psi Chapter, she first went to Washington representing District 1 from Arkansas as a member of the House of Representatives. She took some time off, got married, had twin sons and is now back in D.C. Blanche was one of Chi Omega's Women of Achievement at the 2002 National Convention.

We Chi-Os got it going on, baby!
wow... Senator Blanche Lambert Lincoln seems like one accomplished lady. Even though she is on the other side of the aisle as Congressman Blackburn and I, I still feel proud of her because she is an accomplished Chi Omega (Chi O love conquers all! LOL). Congressman Blackburn has said that she spends time with lots of political Chi-Os even if they aren't in her party.

More about Congressman Blackburn
So how about this, ladies: Congressman Blackburn was a XO legacy ,her daughter is a XO... AND her son is dating a XO... neat, huh? Also, Marsha was named the Greek Woman of the Year in 1999 by Chi Omega Alumnae.
Also, has anybody ever been a scholar or intern for Presidential Classroom? I attended the 20001 inaugural session and I am thinking of applying to be an intern with them in D.C.

I have an easy job!!
I'm a congressional intern for Marsha's district office in Clarksville, TN... so, I don't have to be in D.C. this semester. Gosh, I would miss out on all sorts of sisterhood stuff if I did that.... I would go into severe depression, too! But, if I didn't have a signigificant other here and my sisters, I think I would have tried to get an internship in D.C.... I love D.C.!

I'm sorry babyhootie, what I meant to ask you was how do you find out about internships and requirements for the Presidential Classroom in DC?

oh.. okay... lol
oh gosh, I can't understand simple english! LOL
well, one can go to the website I posted to see the requirements, but i think in order to be an intern you would have had to go to a PC seminar as a high schooler. I got info in the mail from PC since I am an "alum" of the program... and I have been really considering trying to do it this coming summer.

job search
I am looking at potential jobs under the employment section of the House of Rep. official website.... you can find some internships AND paying jobs, too.... this time of year is good to put in apps. because people tend to leave those jobs during this time... at least, that's what people in my congressional office say. who knows until you try, right?
