Talking Legally Blonde Sequel!!

Don't know if this is new news or not... if not, please forgive me!

I LOVED Legally Blonde... especially the fashion in it. Amazing how they incorporated it into the characters.... If you look carefully in the scene where all the sisters are gathered in the foyer before Reese goes off to dinner with her boyfriend, you'll see that each sister has a different charm bracelet!

Stolen from luxuryfashion.com:

"Reese Witherspoon will get her biggest paycheck to date to reprise her role as the Dolce & Gabbana-clad Elle Woods in the sequel Legally Blonde. The actress/mom will also serve as producer to the flick, said to be called Legally Blonde II: Red White, and Blonde. Despite not having a director attached to the pic the studio set the start date as November with a July 2003 release. Reese, at 26, is said to be also hoping to develop her character into a comedy for ABC. She can next be seen in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama. Meanwhile, husband Ryan Phillipe, 27, recently revealed what we've known for ages: the couple attends marriage therapy sessions."

XOXO,
Annie, who is SO EXCITED!

She's hot, but that movie sounds stupid. So many great movies have been ruined by sequals. The neverending story, All Dogs go to Heaven, etc.

Sequel rights: 'Stein' director prefers 'Blonde'
Tue Sep 10, 1:29 AM ET

By Chris Gardner and Zorianna Kit

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Helmer Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, who made his feature directorial debut on the Fox Searchlight romantic comedy "Kissing Jessica Stein," has closed a deal to direct Reese Witherspoon in MGM's "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde."

The Kate Kondell-penned project is on a fast track at MGM after the studio recently closed a deal with "Legally Blonde" star Witherspoon to reprise her role in the sequel as Elle Woods for $15 million. A November start is being prepped.

The sequel sees Witherspoon's Woods head to Washington to battle politicos after her triumphant -- and surprising -- success as a Beverly Hills sorority girl-turned-Harvard Law School graduate.

Marc Platt is producing through his Universal Pictures-based Marc Platt Prods. along with Witherspoon, who is producing through her Intermedia Film-based Type A Films. Elizabeth Ingold is overseeing for MGM.

Herman-Wurmfeld's deal to direct the sequel is not entirely surprising considering that he directed the television pilot based on the film for MGM TV and Touchstone TV. "Legally Blonde" the series is still in contention for a midseason pickup at ABC.

Herman-Wurmfeld's "Stein" proved to be a boxoffice success for Searchlight. The film -- which follows the unlikely courtship between two young New York women -- cost less than $800,000 to make and has grossed north of $7 million at the domestic boxoffice.

Since "Stein," Herman-Wurmfeld has directed TV's "The Facts of Life Reunion." He is repped by Broder-Webb-Chervin-Silbermann and attorney Alan Wertheimer.

I haven't seen the movie, but I picture Legally Blonde as an older version of Clueless. I really liked Clueless. ***whatever***

She already passed her bar exam because she went on to practice law...at least that's what I thought the words at the bottom of the screen said!?!?!

They'd better keep the same guy as her fiancee/husband!

hmmmmmm. I am a huuuuge legally blonde fan. I relate everything to that movie because it teaches such a good life lesson about stereotypes and about how important it is to be nice to everyone because eventually, they will come around, and those who arent are just not worth it. I can recite the entire movie by heart, however, i am not so sure that it would make a good sequel. but of course, SOME sequels are good, even better than the first. Take toy story II, that movie was a riot, so there is always hope

Talking it opens in july

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Sally Field, Bob Newhart, Luke Wilson, Regina King

Comedy
Pink-loving, blonde-haired Harvard Law School graduate Elle Woods (Witherspoon) returns in this sequel, as she turns her legal and fashion-savvy know-how towards getting a bill passed through Congress, relocating a second time, after adapting her Beverly Hills ways to Harvard, and now... Washington, D.C. The issue at hand is animal testing, which Elle becomes concerned about when the parents of her dog can't attend the pet's wedding because of it. Arriving at the Watergate and not knowing where to begin in the city, she befriends the hotel's elderly doorman, Sidney (Newhart), who becomes her guide to the way the political system works, and how to get her legislation... legislated.
MPAA Rating: Not Rated.

I think it will be fun. A nice summer comedy. And I'll see just about anything with a Wilson brother in it.

I like Resse Witherspoon a lot. Unlike so many other actresses, she really seems to have her shit together, ya know?

I love Legally Blonde. My daughter watches it at least once a week. (She is only five, I don't know if that is good or bad )

I know that the screenwriter for the sequel is different. One of the orginal screenwriters was a former blonde sorority girl at James Madison University (Alpha Gamma Delta ). And I think that added to the humor. The new screenwriter's name is Kate Kondell, she went to Stanford, but I can't tell if she was ever in a sorority there. Anyone have any idea?
